Simple Ways to Get Rid of a Heavy Nose

A heavy or stuffy Nose can make a person feel very uncomfortable. It usually affects a person’s breathing and most times one may develop fever. There are all sorts of ways to clear a heavy nose, although if it persists for 2 weeks then you should call your doctor.

Also, we might often be the cause of the stuffiness of our nose. I am sure you are wandering how, some of the things we consume can contribute to it and also if we don’t cover ourselves properly during cold or winter season, then be sure to have a stuffy nose afterwards.

I would show you simple ways to get rid of a heavy nose while at home before you proceed to visit a hospital. Let’s begin;

1. Steaming

Steam can melt the mucus in your nose, it can also drain that mucus. So, whether you are piping a hot cup of tea or you are taking a hot shower, it all runs down to eliminating that mucus in your nose.

What you need to do I cover your head with a towel, then lean over the bowl and finally breath in the steam. This can be done three to four times daily, believe it has proven to be effective over time.

2. Peppermint

Peppermint contains an active ingredient called menthol. This ingredient thin out the gunk in your chest. If you have taken note, you will find out that many chests rub and cough drugs have the menthol in them. Just steep a teaspoon of dried peppermint in a cup of boiling water for 10 minutes, then drink the cup five times a day and you will be relieved of the stuffiness in your noise.

3. Chicken Soup

I believe you have heard a lot about chicken soup, especially mothers and married women. Anyway, everything you have heard about the chicken soup is so true. It really helps out when a person is sick. Just sip a hot bowl and this will move the mucus through your nose faster than any hot water remedy. And also, it tastes good of cause it does.

4. Nasal Wash

This method might sound a little bit scary since you have seen the word nasal wash. But not to worry its easy and safe else I won’t be recommending it. All you need to do is rinse the inside of your nose with a nasal irrigation kit or a neti pot and this will loosen and soften the mucus thereby washing it out instantly.

 You can buy the neti pot form a drugstore or you make yours at home by mixing a cup of warm distilled water, a pinch of baking soda and a teaspoon of salt. This method should be used 1 to 2 times a day for a better result.

5. Decongestants

The stuffiness you feel is as a result of the sweeling and blocking of your blood vessels inside your nose. This causes congestion and blocks your airways eventually.

Also, over the counter decongestants can shrink these vessels and enable you breathe well. When purchasing them check the label for ingredients like phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine.

I hope this post helped you in a way, kindly share.
