What is the COVID-19 status at Interim?

It’s a changing landscape. Conference calls are happening every day to discuss patients who are positive, as well as, education on how to best manage these patients. Recently, Interim has seen a slowdown in our COVID-19 referrals which is reassuring.

How are the caregivers doing?

They’re doing better than you’d expect. The community outreach is great and really helps the Caregivers feel valued. We truly appreciate all the donated meals and handwritten cards. Our caregivers understand that the nature of the job inherently puts them at risk. Yet, they are happy to help their patients while taking the necessary precautions to do their jobs safely.

What is Interim doing to protect their caregivers?

Our caregivers are encouraged to self-diagnose any possible symptoms and are required to take their temperature twice a day. Interim has also implemented a tracking system to monitor which caregivers have been exposed, who is out on quarantine, and which caregiver should be matched to patients.

How has Interim faired in procuring personal protective equipment (PPE)?

We were very lucky and had a large stockpile of PPE on hand when the pandemic started to take off. With the PPE shortage, we’re extremely grateful that we were able to obtain what we needed to help protect our staff and patients.

How did federal funding impact Interim?

It had a significant impact on our organization, especially in May. We were able to tap into the CARES Act to help with costs but our revenue has been down during this whole process.
