Natural Products to Use to Prevent Hair Loss

Hair loss is a very common condition, affecting millions of men and women. That doesn’t lessen the emotional distress caused by Hair loss. Thankfully, there are many natural products that help to reduce or prevent hair loss.

The Causes of Hair Loss

To treat hair loss, it’s important to understand the underlying reasons. Some people experience hair loss due to emotional stress. If you suspect your hair loss is caused by anxiety, you should treat your stress levels before resorting to topical methods. If your hair loss is caused by a damaged, irritated Scalp, natural topical treatments may be effective.

Aloe Vera

In some instances, hair loss is caused by an unhealthy scalp environment. When people notice that their hair loss is accompanied by dandruff or scalp irritation, soothing the damaged scalp may prevent hair loss. Aloe vera is an excellent way to boost scalp health. This famously soothing gel can calm itchy, dandruff-prone scalp skin. It can also minimize sebum production. Hair follicles naturally contain sebum, but when they produce too much of this oil, the follicles become clogged. This can prevent healthy hair growth. To use aloe vera as a scalp remedy, people can rub a quarter-sized dollop of pure aloe vera gel into their scalp post-shower. They can also look for shampoos and conditioners that contain aloe vera.

Rosemary Oil

Rosemary oil has long been used an all-natural hair loss remedy. That’s because it has anti-inflammatory properties; applying a few drops of rosemary oil to the scalp every night may reduce scalp inflammation. Rosemary oil boosts circulation as well. If the hair follicles aren’t receiving adequate blood supply, they may start to die off, making new hair growth impossible. This oil is also hydrating. If scalp damage is caused by dryness, rosemary oil can help to hydrate flaky, dehydrated skin. Rosemary oil can be applied by itself as a hair loss remedy, or mixed with other essential oils for maximum efficacy.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is another effective remedy for hair loss caused by clogged hair follicles. When these follicles become clogged, this unhealthy scalp environment allows bacteria to accumulate. It also prohibits healthy oils from entering the follicles. Apple cider vinegar has a pH level comparable to that of human hair. This means that it can restore the acid level of the scalp, and prevent the bacteria and fungal growth that occurs when the acid level is disrupted. This effect is enhanced by apple cider vinegar’s potent antifungal and antimicrobial properties. To use apple cider vinegar as a clarifying scalp tonic, try mixing one cup of water and four tablespoons of vinegar. Rub the mixture into the scalp after you shampoo, leave it on for three to five minutes, then gently rinse until the vinegar smell dissipates. This treatment can be done once or twice a week.

Eggs

Some natural remedies aren’t immediately appealing. The thought of cracking an egg over your head may seem like a bad joke. Eggs contain plenty of protein, however, and hair is primarily composed of keratin protein. By supplying damaged hair follicles with extra protein, eggs can help promote hair re-growth. To make an egg hair mask, mix an egg with a few tablespoons of your favorite essential oil, like rosemary oil. Apply the paste to damp hair, and then let it penetrate the hair and scalp for ten to twenty minutes. After rinsing the egg mixture with warm water, follow with your normal shampoo and conditioner regimen.

Onion Juice

Onion juice contains sulfur, which helps to soothe scalps prone to eczema, psoriasis, or dandruff. When hair loss is caused by a flaky scalp, applying a product with a high sulfur content is a great way to soothe the skin damage. Onion juice also has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which help to improve the condition of the scalp, making it a better environment for healthy hair growth. Like other treatments options, simply rub onion juice into the scalp pre-shampoo, and rinse after it’s been allowed to soak into the skin for a few minutes.

Green Tea

Sometime, damaged hair follicles just need a push in the right direction. Green tea has anti-inflammatory properties; they help to unclog follicles and fend off bacterial and fungal infections. This tea also has DHT blockers. DHT is the male hormone known for playing a role in hair loss, and green tea helps to mitigate their effect on hair follicles. Green tea is chock full of antioxidants as well. In fact, it contains a specific antioxidant, EGCG, which is known to boost hair growth. To use green tea as a healthy scalp remedy, simply brew a strong cup of your favorite blend. Apply it to the scalp, and rinse after ten minutes. As green tea is very gentle, this treatment can be performed as often as necessary. Drinking green tea may also boost hair health.

Safflower Oil

There are many essential oils that effectively boost scalp health. Safflower oil is an excellent choice, because it’s extremely nourishing. When applied to the scalp, it penetrates deep into the hair follicles, helping to reduce dryness and regulate oil production.

Licorice Root

When licorice root is applied to the scalp, it helps to open the hair follicles. This unclogs unwanted sebum and mitigates the causes of irritation and dryness. Licorice root can also strengthen hair follicles that have been weakened due to long-term damage. Once the hair follicles are restored to their former condition, new hair growth is the result. To reap the benefits of this potent tonic, brew pure licorice root tea and apply it to the scalp.

Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil has a stimulating effect on the scalp. When applied, it helps to boost scalp circulation. To revitalize tired, damaged scalps, apply a few drops of peppermint oil every night.
