Casa Del Bambino blog may interest parents with pre-schooler Children. Cheayee, the owner of the blog describes herself as:
Montessori-an at heart. Follow my thots as I journal thru the KL-ian education context.
One of her post on her observations of KL/PJ childcare cum kindergarten caught my eyes. I am sure parents will be interested to follow the blog on her insights.
I also found tips on choosing childcare from the Parenting section in BBC Health. For e.g. :
if you’re visiting a nursery or preschool
* Children who look calm, safe and happy.
* Plenty of clean toys and equipment for the children to use,
plus an attractive outdoor play area.
* Carers who listen to the children, take notice of them,
answer their questions and play with them. You’re looking for
carers who enjoy being with children and obviously like their work.

All my 3 older children were sent to the Montessori method of child education where none of them has any homework, spelling tests nor any exams. Kindergarten was basically having fun and learn in the process.
They just relied on the Ladybird series of books to learn their consonants and vowels. Life was a breeze for them and I hope other kids also had the same amount of fun when growing up.
However, it is sad because many parents are pushing their pre-schoolers to excel by drilling and loading them with too much work, tuition, examinations, competitions etc.
