Many people make resolutions for the New Year. However, we all know that making a Resolution and following through with it are two different things. What, then, makes us fail? And what could we do to help turn our resolution goals into reality?
While many civilizations adopted their own New Year celebrations, it was Julius Caesar who made January 1st the New Year’s Day that we recognize today, partly in honor of the Roman God of Beginnings, Janus.
New Year’s resolutions often fail because of the goal itself. Focus on one at a time and keep it SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-Based).
Remember: the ultimate goal is a LASTING change in behavior. Work on acquiring good habits and your willpower to succeed will be as strong and powerful as Caesar’s army!
