Yesterday we reported that an iconic South Boston restaurant had been closed for a few weeks and it was not known for sure what would be happening to the place. Now we have learned that it is getting ready to reopen.
According to a Twitter post from @ConciergeBoston, Amrheins on West Broadway will open its doors once again tomorrow (Saturday, February 13) at 5:00 PM after apparently undergoing renovations. It is not known what changes have been made to the dining and drinking spot--and all kinds of rumors and chatter have taken place in the past 24 hours with no confirmation of anything--so check back for updates here as we get them.
Amrheins is one of the oldest restaurants in Boston, having been in business since 1890; about ten years ago it closed for renovations and reopened as a slightly more upscale spot than in its previous incarnation.
The address for Amrheins is 80 West Broadway, South Boston, MA, 02127. Its website is at http://amrheinsboston.com/
