Yours for $1.5m: Mike Tyson’s Vegas home

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has put his home up for sale.

The boxing legend, who retired in 2006, has been a household name for years, among boxing fans and non-boxing fans alike. While some of that renown has been because of his conduct outside of the ring, it perhaps deserves to be for his real estate legacy. His old Trumball Country mansion was as much the epitome of Tyson’s attitude as he was, decked out in chandeliers and tiger print carpets – only to wind up abandoned for years.

Today, it’s inhabited once more, as a church in Ohio nears completion on its conversion of the home into a new chapel.

Boxing lovers, though, haven’t missed their chance to live in a Tyson home: his current property, located in Henderson, Nevada, has just come on to the market.

The five-bedroom home spans a sizeable 5,800 square feet and boasts six bathrooms and no fewer than three fireplaces. It may lack the chandeliers of peak Tyson, but the two-storey property has its fair share of extravagance, from skybridges to vaulted ceilings, made from materials such as marble, slate and steel, not to mention a swimming pool with a waterfall.

The home sits outside of the glitz and glamour of the Vegas strip, an area nice enough for Tyson to buy another larger home nearby – good news for the lucky buyer, who will get to live in the vicinity of the sporting icon. The price for living like, and near, Mike Tyson? $1.5 million.

Breaking Bad director Michelle MacLaren lists home

Breaking Bad Director Michelle Maclaren has built up quite a following among TV fans, thanks to her role in helming what some consider to be the greatest episode of the show. Now, she’s set to win over fans in the real estate world too, with the listing of a beautiful Nichols Canyon home.

The three-bedroom property has a log cabin vice, with brick and terra cotta tile floors, vaulted ceilings and brick fireplaces, not to mention what Variety describes as a “treehouse-like master suiet”.

MacLaren snapped it up in 2011 for $730,000, before listing it for sale in 2014 for $3.5 million. Now, it is for sale off the market for the slightly lower sum of $3.1 million – a business move that Walter White would no doubt disapprove of.

Julia Roberts is selling up her Hawaiian paradise

Julia Roberts is selling up her slice of Hawaiian Paradise. The beachfront estate on the island of Kauai was first bought by a sugar plantation manager, before being hit by a tidal wave in 1957. It was first listed in 2011, when the actress bought it, retaining its historic form. Roberts has since put the seven-bedroom home on the market for $29.85 million in 2015 and, now, has relisted it at the slashed price of $21.95 million.
