Windows 10-Important Features,Fixes and Tips


Microsoft believes the future of Windows is as a platform for all. Like Android, the strength of Windows is in the thousands of companies that develop for it and use it in their products.Windows 10, Microsoft’s back-to-basics re-embracing of the PC, is already brimming with handy new features, and with all the new goodies comes with a legion of new tweaks and tricks—some of which unlock powerful functionality hidden to everyday users.
In Our post Windows 10-Important Features,Fixes and Tips we are introducing and explaining some great features and tips which are explained below:-

1)Display My Computer on Windows 10 Desktop

In Windows 10 My Computer is Replaced with This PC and as you know that My Computer Icon on Desktop is very Useful.It allow you to manage drivers and see some basic but important settings.But in this version of Windows the icon is hidden and to show iton desktop we have to do some setting by following steps.

Step 1) Right click on the empty space in the desktop and Click on ‘Personalize’.

Step 2) Now Click on ‘Themes’ on the Personalization settings and ‘Go to desktop icon settings’.

Step 3)Tick the ‘Computer’ to show it in desktop.
That's it Now the ‘This PC’ or ‘My Computer’ icon would appear on the desktop.

2)Pin My This PC Icon to Start Menu

 


By default My computer icon is not included in start menu. You can follow below method to pin This PC icon to start menu and list.

Step1)Right Click on the ‘This PC’ icon after you have enabled it to display in the desktop. Select Pin to Start List or Start.

3)Stop The Force Windows Update Service

Automatic updates are typically a good thing and I recommend leaving them on in general.But it slows down your internet speed and eats memory by running in the background.Windows Update is actually just another Windows process so it can be stopped.So if you don't want to use Automatic Update Feature in Windows 10 then just follow the given steps.

Step 1)Open the Run command (Win + R), in it type: services.msc and press enter.
Step 2)From the Services list which appears find the Windows Update service and open it.
Step 3)In ‘Startup Type’ (under the ‘General’ tab) change it to ‘Disabled’
Step 4)Restart Your Device.

Now if you want to Re-enable Windows Update then  follow Step 1,2&3 and just change the Startup Type to ‘Automatic’ in step 3 and Restart your Device.

4) Setup A Metered Connection


Windows updates and driver update can't be Automatically Downloaded through Metered Connection.
    Step 1)Open the Settings app (Win + I).
    Step 2)Open the ‘Network & Internet’ section.
    Step 3)Open ‘Wi-Fi’ or any other connection(Depends on your connection).
    Step 4) click ‘Advanced Options’
    Step 5) Toggle ‘Set as metered connection’ to ‘On’.

5)  Record screen using Xbox app


The new built-in Windows 10 Xbox app also includes a screen recording feature that lets you record the screen of the active window, as well.it’s primarily designed to capture your gaming exploits for sharing with the wider world, but you can use it to prepare a presentation. Press Windows Key+G from inside any app and then check the tick box to get the Game DVR utility up and running. Any clips you record are available from inside the Xbox app; use the Windows Key+Alt+Print Screen keyboard shortcut to save a static screenshot to the same location.

6) Set time delays in Snipping Tool

You can now also set time delays for capturing screenshots using the Snipping Tool.Just open the snipping Tool and click on delay. This dropdown menu have options of delay 1 to 5 seconds.And one more thing that all Screenshots in this post are  taken with this amazing tool

 7) CMD with Copy/Paste Function


Microsoft has added CTRL+C and CTRL+V keyboard shortcuts that let you copy and paste content respectively.

  8)Enable Battery saver option in Windows 10

For laptop users, Windows 10 comes with an official Battery saver feature for the first time, which you can find in the System section of Settings (there’s also an estimate of how long your battery is likely to last). You can turn the Battery saver mode on or off manually, or have it kick in automatically when your battery gets down to a certain level — click the Battery saver settings link to change this level from the default 20%, and to specify certain apps that are exempt from the various power-saving features.

Go  to Setting from Start Menu>Settings>SYSTEM>Battery Saver
and check all settings.

You can Enable  or disable Battery saver option from  Notification bar at bottom right side of desktop.

9)Extra desktops and workspace

Click or tap the Task View button (next to search on the taskbar) or press Windows Key+Tab on the keyboard to view, create and remove virtual desktops. You can also click on the individual app thumbnails to switch between them.Windows 10 brings with it native support for “virtual” desktops it means you can set up your app windows across a series of desktops rather than sticking with one.

10) Save Maps for offline use

Like Android Google Maps  Windows 10 lets you save maps to your device in case you should lose a Wi-Fi or data connection while you’re trying to scout out the nearby area.
 Head to the Settings> System>Offline maps to choose which maps to download.

11) Default app associations

Now you can select default app to open any fileThe default app for a particular file type is the one that opens when you double-click on a file saved in that format. To Enable and use this function just go to the Settings app from the Start menu>System>Default apps and  here you can make any necessary changes, as well as resetting file associations back to their “Microsoft recommended” ones if required.

12) Alternative Start menu

 

Right-click on the Start menu button or press Windows Key+X to bring up an alternative start menu. Alternative Start menu offers quick access to some of the most important areas of the system.Complete list is shown in above image.

13) Windows 10 wifi Sense-Wi-Fi sharing

Windows 10's Wi-Fi Sense lets you automatically share Wi-Fi passwords with your contacts on Facebook and Skype.To turn it off go into the Network & Internet section of Settings, then select Manage Wi-Fi settings. At the bottom of the screen you can turn sharing on or off for all of the networks your computer regularly connects to.

14)Phone Companion

it will help you get your emails, photos and other files on an Android or iOS phone through apps such as OneDrive and Outlook.Open Start Menu then open the Phone Companion app then
Choose the type of mobile device you’re using from the opening splash screen then follow the instructions to get set up.

15) Sync Windows experience to Multiple Windows PC 

 

If you have multiple Windows PCs in multiple locations like home and in the office ten this will help you to keeping a consistent experience across them all.This is not a new feature Windows 10 lets you sync or share various parts of your Windows experience — such as your desktop wallpaper and online passwords – between computers, as long as you use the same Microsoft account to sign in with. Just go to Start Menu>Settings app>Accounts>Sync your settings.Now Modify the setting as your Requirements.
