Vaporesso XROS 3 Mini Pod Kit Review – Crossing The Limits Again

Today I’m taking a look at a familiar device the Vaporesso Xros 3 Mini. Familiar because we’ve been here but we haven’t been here.

You’ll soon see what I mean…

I’m a big fan of the XROS series of pod kits. The reason being, they’re just so simple to use. No fussing with screens, no replacing coils. They’re portable and pocket friendly, no leaking and damn right convenient to pull out for a quick, stealthy vape.

Vaporesso must be thinking the very same thing as the XROS 3 Mini is the fifth in their popular range of MTL devices.

Driven by design, Vaporesso relies on user feedback spanning 50 countries across the globe.

This design quality extends to their latest pod kit as we’re about to find out.

What Can We Expect From the Vaporesso XROS 3 Mini Pod Kit?

Much of what we can expect I’ve already mentioned but the biggest difference between the XROS 3 and XROS 3 mini is the firing button. It’s always omitted on the mini versions meaning auto draw is all we need to concern ourselves with.

Instant appeal to the newer vaper, methinks.

Another reason I like the XROS series is for the pod compatibility. They’re interchangeable across the series. That’s largely driven by the integrated battery capacity. 1000mAh is the standard for all XROS pod kits with the exception of the original.

So if you have a few spare pods laying around, chances are you’ll be able to pop them in the XROS 3 Mini.

In fact we get the same 0.6ohm sealed mesh pod of the XROS 3 bundled in with the kit.

Use it, dispose of it. Responsibly, please.

So what’s also great is the versatility of these pods. They cater for freebase nicotine as well as salt nicotine content. The lower resistance mesh coils are capable of 70VG/30PG juice ratios and the higher ones are perfectly suited to 50VG/50PG.

It’s also highly reassuring to know the pods won’t leak a drop of E-liquid.

The Pulse mode of the XROS 3 seems to have been ditched. But the high density 1000mAh battery still works in conjunction with the COREX heating system of the mesh coil.

The COREX heating system ensures a 50% increase to vapour production, stronger flavour replication and overall pod life span. Can’t be bad!

The Morph mesh structure of the coil and the COREX cotton ensures rapid and even heating at all times.

The Vaporesso Xros 3 Mini comes in a host of colour schemes. Pick from Sky Blue, Rose Pink, Phantom Gold, Phantom Green, Black (under review), Navy Blue, Space Grey and Icy Silver.

Vaporesso XROS 3 Mini Pod Kit – Design and Build Quality

Battery Section

It’s maybe a little odd to discover that there’s not that much ‘mini’ about the pod kit.
Vaporesso have merely shaved around half an inch off the height of the XROS 3. Width and depth is around the same and build quality is as good as I’ve come to expect.

I dig the gradient and diamond carvings on the front of the device. The light refractions created by this pattern are pretty groovy.

These carvings also assist with grip but I’m not sure why they weren’t extended to the rear.

Maybe I’m just being picky, again!

The curved edges assist with ergonomics so it feels comfortable in the hand.

There are two fixed pin hole airflow slots positioned either side to provide either an MTL or RDL vape.

Type C charging is achieved via the base of the battery section. I would always advise removing the pod when charging.

This will prevent one side of the cotton wicking from potentially drying out – leading to a dry hit or two.

Trust me, you don’t want any of those.

A wide LED sits at the bottom of the battery section and will provide the following charge information:

  • Green – 100% – 70% (high)
  • Blue – 70% – 30% (medium)
  • Red – 30% – 0% (low)

The LED also alerts for various battery issues including short circuit, low resistance and over vaping. It will react when the pod is inserted or removed too.

The Pod Section

I’ve pretty much covered this with the review of the XROS 3 pod kit but let’s have a little recap.

It’s made of a toughened PCTG plastic and E-liquid levels are perfectly viewable through the clear pod window.

The pods can be slipped into the battery section either way around. They snap securely into place and hold their own when dropped from height.

When inserted, I’d say the majority but not all of the remaining juice level is visible.

So the pod employs the usual SSS technology. This stands for Seal, Saturate and Store.

Like I keep mentioning, these pods won’t leak.

It uses an upgraded mouthpiece for additional comfort and this needs to be carefully snapped off in order to fill.

Since the coils are sealed inside the pod they’re non replaceable but how do we get juice in them?

Vaporesso Xros 3 Mini – Quick Start Guide

How To Fill The Pod

Start by removing the pod from the battery section.

  • Carefully remove the mouthpiece from the pod
  • Locate the filling port. It’s marked in red. Do NOT fill down the centre hole!
  • Push the E-liquid bottle nozzle through the fill port and into the pod chamber
  • Gently squeeze E-liquid into the filling port taking care not to overfill
  • Snap the mouthpiece back onto the pod
  • Drop the pod back into the battery section

It’s more important to fill above the cotton wicking ports than it is to completely fill the pod. Leave the E-liquid to soak into the cotton for around five minutes before vaping.

NB: If this is the first time filling, remember to remove the sticker on the base of the pod. The battery won’t make contact with the coil otherwise..

How Does The Vaporesso XROS 3 Mini Pod Kit Perform?

Mouth To Lung Vaping

I used IVG Apple Berry Crumble to test the pod kit. It’s a 70VG/30PG juice ratio with 3mg freebase nicotine included.

The mouth to lung draw is a bit on the loose side for my liking. The auto draw would intermittently cut out during lighter draws but was never a problem when pulled on harder.

Super sensitive auto draw, I guess.

The flavour was excellent. The sweetness of the Apple and Berries combining to produce a smooth and tasty exhale with just enough warmth to bring out the pastry notes as an after taste.

I got a very quiet, turbulence free vape and cloud production was great for a MTL vape.

Restrictive Lung vaping

Now this is really where the 0.6ohm pod shines.

I couldn’t personally ask for a better RDL vape. The airflow restriction is pitched perfect.

If I thought the MTL style produced great flavour, I needed to think again! It absolutely explodes on the exhale and cloud production is great.

Admittedly they’re mini plumes (pretty apt for the device) but they have more than enough density and volume.

Each vape was consistent for flavour. The sweetness was there throughout and so was the fruit. Especially the Apple. It had a stronger presence under an RDL vape and the bakery notes seemed much richer in quality.

This airflow restriction condenses and concentrates the ingredients on another level. That extra touch of warmth generated by the inhale really does make a difference for bakery, spicy, dessert based E-liquids.

Yup! RDL vaping on the XROS 3 Mini is the way forwards for me!

Battery performance and Recharging

I got just over 8 hours continuous use from the 1000mAh battery. During this time I refilled the pod twice. It’s quite a juice guzzler when being vaped in a restrictive lung style.

There were no issues when it came to flavour and vapour production. The consistency was there throughout with the pod only really faltering when the battery died. So that’s kind of expected.

It felt like the wattage was holding steady even as the battery passed through a Blue LED to a Red. Good stuff.

Fast type C charging was also as promised, in fact coming in at 55 minutes to be precise. My only concern was that the Red LED remained solid for around 15 minutes before slowly pulsing. But it didn’t take long to pass from a pulsing Blue to a solid Green.

So something of an unbalanced charge cycle. Not something I’ve often observed.

Pros

  • Light weight and pocket friendly
  • Easy to use top fill system
  • View remaining juice levels
  • Strong securing magnets
  • Large, bright battery status LED
  • Awesome RDL vape using the 0.6ohm pod

Cons

  • Horizontal charging (subjective)
  • MTL vape a touch on the loose side
  • Only one pod included

Vaporesso XROS 3 Mini Final Review Verdict

Being top fill these pods are just so darn easy to fill. Larger bottle nozzles (short fill) aren’t a problem either and the tiny air release valve prevents any spillage.

Even though I felt the MTL vape was a little slack the coil still produced excellent flavour and stealth like vapour production.

I guess it’s hard to strike the right balance since the coil is more tailored to an RDL vape.

And it does that impeccably. Flavour and vapour production was faultless.

The Pod did indeed handle a 70VG/30PG juice ratio with consummate ease, never once showing signs of dry hitting. For this reason it’s the ratio I would suggest using for this particular coil.

You’ll get awesome flavour in partnership with great cloud production.

I would whole heartedly recommend the Vaporesso XROS 3 Mini to any new vaper. My confidence is based on its ease of use, lack of confusing screens, portability and above all – flavour and vapour production.

Oh! Did I mention it doesn’t leak? Can’t remember..
