An Extraordinary Vaping Event for Five Amazing Charities

Sometimes a Vape event comes along that not only captures the Vaping community’s imagination but also its heart and the Telford Charity Vape Show has done just that.

The brainchild of Kev Hill – better known over on YouTube as the Telford Vaper – the show has come together in a little under a month.

Yeah you read that right – this whole show has been organized in under a month from the initial idea to a ton of vendors and sponsors signing up take part making sure the event will be a runaway success – an incredible achievement to say the least.

The inspiration for the charity vape show comes from his pain at the loss of his son Josh to a little known disease called Angelman Syndrome as Kev explains:

As I’m forty in August and I’ve been doing some personal 4-40 challenges and I decided almost four weeks ago why not have a charity Telford Vape Show to not only raise awareness my son’s Josh condition Angelmans Syndrome but also help those who helped me at the time he passed away. Plus other charities that are close to my heart.

The trio of charities that will also benefit are – Daddy’s With Angels – Libbie Mae’s Little Angels – Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital – and the Brain Trust.

You can read more about why Kev chose those particular causes later.

Love Vaping Sharing the Vape Love

Kev’s been blown away by the support shown by not only the wider vaping community but also vendors from across the world with at least 20 confirmed as being there on the day and many more offering raffle prizes.

love vaping

Love Vaping are the main sponsors of the show and spokeswoman Sarah B said the company was delighted to get involved in such a worthwhile event:

Kevin contacted us through Twitter very early on, before he decided to formally announce the event, asking if we’d be interested in exhibiting at the show.

Once he told us about his story and the charities he wanted to raise funds for, we decided we’d go one step further and sponsor the event.

The Telford Vape Show has a message of love, which is a sentiment that’s even in our name!

We love vaping, we love vapers and we love the community we serve.

As an organisation, corporate responsibility is one of our core values, we strive to minimise our impact through our free environmentally friendly delivery service on all orders and participate in events that could help the community.

Love Vaping has not only supplied all the promotional material for the show but has also pledged to add £1 to every single donation received on their website.

Sarah called on all vapers out there to get behind the event even if they can’t make it on the day:

To everyone out there, if you can attend the event – it would make a huge difference to the charities.

If you’re unable to make it, you can still take part by visiting where you can donate to the charities chosen by Kevin.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Kevin’s interview when he visited us at LVHQ: where you can hear more about Kevin’s inspiring story and why he’s organized the show.

Minon Vapes and their Special Brews

There’s also an extra special blend of e-liquids being brewed in honour of the event – including one named after Kev’s son Josh and inspired by his favourite ice-cream.

minion vapes

Ann-Marie Neeld the proprietor and mixologist over at Lancashire based Minion Vapes explains how this came about:

Knowing Kevin personally, he speaks frequently of Josh and how he struggled (and continues) to come to terms with the loss of his son.

He’s spoken specifically of the lack of organizations accessible for support for fathers.

Kevin approached me roughly a month ago with the concept of Telford Vape Show and asked if I would consider exhibiting.

Of course, I agreed and subsequently he asked if I would be interested in developing a flavour profile exclusively for the event.

I loved the idea as it seemed such an exciting way to donate to the causes and reach vapers potentially unaware of the event. With such wonderful charities standing to benefit, it was impossible to refuse.

Four Very Special E-Liquid Flavours

Minion Vapes was created by a vaper, for vapers. I was always an avid believer that in order to enjoy Gourmet flavours, it wasn’t necessary to pay a fortune.

Being a single mother to two girls, I had always mixed my own liquids. Subsequently, I’ve always been led by my peers. I want to know what people are currently enjoying or looking for from their liquids.

I threw a few ideas into an online poll but subsequently, the results were too close to call, with only 3% of all votes covering all the flavours suggested.

As a result, the decision was made to run four new flavours for the event : one, effectively, per charity. Three were decided publicly, one by Kevin himself, in honour of Josh’s favourite treat.

We will continue to honour our dedication to 20% of all profits being divided and donated to the charities involved. I anticipate a minimum of a three month run on these flavours subject to popularity.

Silent Josh’s Strawberry Sundae

The flavours currently in production are Custard Doughnut, Pink Lemonade, Twister Lolly and Silent Josh’s Strawberry Sundae.

We have also worked with our graphic designer to provide a range of labels featuring wings, representative of Angelman Syndrome.

I would invite everyone to attend; it’s a fabulous opportunity to support a lifesaving series of charities, an industry capable of changing and saving lives, local UK businesses but also to celebrate to life of a beautiful boy.

We can all make a difference, no matter how big or small. Any one of us could be affected by the causes supported. Even if you’re a non vaper, I urge people to support us and the courageous man behind the event.

And the Vaping Charity Award Goes To…

As if organizing all this hasn’t been enough kind hearted Kev has also decided to honour another legend in the vaping community Jay the Demon Vaper as he explains:

As I can see this event becoming a yearly event I thought what better way to promote not on my vaping but all the charity work that we do by creating a TELFORD VAPER SERVICE TO CHARITY AWARD the guys at vape-craft have kindly donated an amazing perspex glass award and in this year it’s great to announce the first ever winner is Jay from Demon Vaper.

Many have said in this short amount time since thinking up this idea I should get the award but I can’t award it to myself, or can I lol!

A few months back there was a girl called Jessica from the West Midlands her family was raising enough funds to take her to Disney land Paris, Jay out he’s own pocket donated £1500 so the target could be reached and that alone deserves an award and a pat in the back.

The award – sponsored by Vape-Craft – will be presented by Kev’s good friends and fellow YouTube reviewers the guys behind the hilarious Last of the Summer Vapes Show – SoulOhm – Little Bro Vapes and Great British Vapes.

Kev would also like to thank Wow Creative and Anchor Print for supplying the trophy which you can see on his YouTube video promoting the show.

Massive Thanks

After chatting with Kev this past few days and of course meeting him at the recent Vaper Expo – I can honestly say I’ve never met a more down to earth – generous and funny bloke with a heart as big as his personality.

the telford vaper at expo

Humbled by the support he’s received from family – friends – the vaping community and indeed complete strangers – he has a lot of folks he wants to thank:

I must say a massive thank you to firstly my wife Lucy for as ever being my rock, putting up with my mood swings, when I planned thus event I never truly realised how much deep pain was still harbouring and grieving I am still to do, stuff I lock away apart from anniversaries .

Having so many people contact me and ask me like you to write on paper for someone not only dyslexic but a father who has an angel in heaven at times had been painful and this has made me do a lot soul searching.

Secondly without the help from the guys at Love Vaping I would never have got this event to the platform it has reached, I’m sure there’s many a time Hussain has received a message on Twitter from me and screamed or thought oh no what’s Kevin want now lol.

They have been at the end a phone day night and for that I’m blessed to even as it’s only been four weeks I now class these guys close friends.

Thirdly Darren Lester and Chris Betterridge again close friends and more like family to be fair, my sounding boards to most of my ideas.

And Mrs ‘Purple Army’ herself Ann-Marie from Minions Vapes who I have had the privilege of watching her company grow over the last twelve months not only has she taken it upon herself to run the Telford Vape Show Facebook page as I’m running round organizing to much lol.

She’s also very very kindly offers to great four flavours e liquid and 20%those sales will be donated directly to my charities, which is mind blowing.

I must also thank all the guys and ladies from the Vape UK Network for pushing this event from the likes of Vaping with Vic – xshellyx – gailboop and kericia, .

Also a massive thank you to Vapouround – Sub-Ohm magazine and Vapelyfe for very kindly not only running an article about my vaping life but also a free advert about the Telford Charity Vape Show.

And also all the vendors who have kindly offered to support this amazing event and donate prizes.

Raffle Prizes Required!

Whilst all the vendor spots are now taken any vendors wishing to take part can still donate raffle prizes by contacting Kev directly on Twitter – @telfordblues – or via the show’s Facebook Page.

They helped me chat with other fathers who have angles in heaven.

Libby Mae”s Little Angels

Great Ormond Street Hospital

As Josh condition got worse and at the time Angelmans Syndrome not much was known about it in the UK. He spent many a day night in London and the nurses and doctors did all they can to make he’s last few months alive comfortable they will always have a part in my heart.

The Brain Trust

Through vaping I met only a few months ago a man called Chris Bass from Scunthorpe he is suffering a brain tumour, he himself is not only reading money but awareness of a charity close to him call Brain Trust, they offer support for family s and friends going through a traumatic time.
