How to Create Content People Want to Share

You have created your content and you are getting great comments and likes. But nobody is sharing it, and you feel you are missing something.

When your content is shared, you’re able to reach more people than you expected. You are invited to be at their timelines without sounding annoying or paying a cent for it. So, yes, you should aim to make your posts more shareable.

But how do you achieve that?

Good news! There are several ways to make this happen, like the tactics below.

# 1 – Add more visual and auditory resources

States have proved that posts with visual and auditory resources get more shares than only text ones. These elements increase engagement, bring up memories, and give you the opportunity to add some extra flavor to what you are trying to say.

So you should consider adding images, videos, even Animated Gifs to your posts. Just bear in mind that they need to be of high quality and be directly connected to your text. You can also offer pure visual or audio content, creating podcasts and videos from scratch.

# 2 – Make it personal

People want to talk to other people online, despite the fact they are using a computer or a mobile device for it instead of going out for a face-to-face conversation.

So try to make your posts and articles as personal as possible. Let them know how you come up with a topic, why you find it fantastic, and what it has to do with your private life.

If you aren’t comfortable giving this sort of information, make sure that you let your personality flow in your writing, giving your opinion and showing where you stand regarding the topic in question.

# 3 – Tell a real story

It doesn’t have to be about you or your family and friends, but real stories get much more shares compared to plain information. This is the secret behind the success of tabloids and their gossip, for instance.

So try getting some interviews with interesting people and writing them down. Add quotes from famous people. Or mention known facts about the personal lives of experts and entrepreneurs in your posts and articles. It will make your text much more engaging and shareable.

# 4 – Create something fun

Many people go online looking for relevant and useful information, that is true. But many of us are just looking for a bit of fun and entertainment. So don’t be afraid to create something one of a kind and add it to your content.

Quizzes are great choices here, along with memes and the already mentioned animated gifs. Of course, you need to check if it suits your audience, but you still can always include a bit of humor in your writing without the risk of sounding silly. Just do it the right way – and the right way is your audience’s way.

# 5 – Ask them to share

This is the obvious thing to do, but you might be doing it wrong or not doing it at all. There is no problem in asking your followers or subscribers to share your content. You can absolutely do this as directly as you are reading this, now.

If you think that they need a little incentive, then give it to them. Create a contest and give a prize to whom tells you the best story and shares it with their friends (so you get to use tip 3 here as well).

If nothing else, make sure that your share buttons are visible and easy to touch on a mobile device. Sometimes, this is all that it takes to increase the number of shares on your posts or articles.

The bottom line

Creating shareable content is all about delivering something that people would like to share in the first place. So ask yourself about what your audience would use to freely promote on their social media networks: real stories? Funny things? Images? Videos?

Don’t take my word as a guarantee, do some research instead. Check online profiles, groups, and communities where your target audience gathers and find out the correct answer straight from the source.

This way you will increase your chances to discover the best tactics to put into practice and get more shares than you have ever seen before.

What other methods have you used to increased the shares to your blog content?
