South Pasadena Theatre Workshop has most recently produced Third by Wendy Wasserstein and Esprit de Corps, an original piece by Sally Smythe.
Smythe formally ran a Youth Conservatory at the South Pasadena Theatre Workshop which produced such plays as, Into the Woods, The Diviners, and Midsummer Night’s Dream. Her work with young actors began at a children’s theatre on Mercer Island Washington where she had the delight of directing several shows including You Can’t Take it With You, Wind and the Willows, and an original adaptation of Robin Hood among others.
Smythe brings her years of experience as a professional actor in repertory theatre working in such venues as The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The Old Globe, and The American Conservatory Theatre to her work with teenagers and believes they are capable of great things. She tells us, “this is an opportunity for teens to excel in their art and have fun doing so! And you cannot beat the price. We can be flexible about the rehearsal schedules and will double cast if certain actors need to be absent on some rehearsal or performance dates.”
