About South Pasadena Beautiful:

For nearly 60 years, South Pasadena Beautiful has been a driving force behind the beautification and preservation of South Pasadena’s natural and urban landscapes. Founded in 1965 by Fred Golding, Catherine McCabe, Margaret Hughes, and Henry Wheeler, this all-volunteer organization was established in response to the removal of beloved trees on Milan Avenue. Since then, South Pasadena Beautiful has been dedicated to promoting community pride, recognizing and preserving existing beauty, and addressing unsightly areas throughout the city.

Over the decades, South Pasadena Beautiful has spearheaded numerous projects, including the planting and maintenance of hundreds of trees, the beautification of public spaces like the South Pasadena Library, the War Memorial Building, and Garfield Park, and supporting initiatives such as anti-litter drives, garden tours, and property improvement awards. Their efforts have transformed and maintained some of the city’s most treasured landscapes, fostering a sense of community involvement and environmental stewardship.
