Chiara Lo Faro, an Indo-Italian national who spent the last 7 years living and working in Delhi/Gurgaon and who is today running her own India-focused business, was featured in this year’s EuIndia40 list.
A young and dynamic professional, Chiara’s wish to experience the world from a different perspective lead her to quit Italy at the age of 22 to move to India, where she worked in strategy consulting for foreign companies entering the market, while teaching herself Hindi and acquiring the status of Overseas Citizen of India. She then moved to the financial sector and worked in the regional corporate office of YES Bank as AVP, supporting foreign corporates all over India for cross- border transactions and funding requirements. As she is now temporarily based in France, she registered a business aimed at providing cultural, language and strategy support to European and Indian companies working together, thanks to her current knowledge of Italian, English, French, Hindi and other languages, and very often travels to Gurgaon.
“I am really honoured to have been selected as one of the EU-India Leaders and glad to know that my work has left a mark in this field. Delegates travelled from all over the world to attend the summit, which saw many high-level discussions and panels, and many came from India too” Chiara told We Are Gurgaon.
“As an Indo-Italian myself, I strongly believe that our countries have more in common than we think, and I will continue to do my best to make more people see these similarities, rather than differences” she further added.
While this felicitation is an important milestone, Chiara is now gearing up for her next endeavour, which will see her talk about her India experience as a TEDx Speaker in the month of May. TEDx is one of largest independent knowledge platforms in the world, moved by the motto “ideas worth sharing”.
Sujit S Nair, Chairman of Europe India Centre for Business & Industry (EICBI) said “EuIndia40 is an initiative by Europe India Centre for Business & Industry (EICBI) to discover young leaders in India and EU, who we believe can play a crucial role in bridging the divide between the EU and India, the two largest multi-party democracies in the world. From our experience of playing a key role in promoting EU India trade relations over the last decade, we can proudly say that future of the EU India relations looks very exciting as a new brand of young leaders is emerging from both sides. I am pleased to present EuIndia40 for the year 2019”.
India and the EU celebrated 55 years of diplomatic relations in 2017. With Brexit opening new possibilities for furthering EU India relations, there has been a lot of discussions in the EU India trade corridor that Brexit will make trade deals between the EU and India a little easier.
Besides being engaged in the business field, Chiara is also a formally trained musician and is currently lead singer in a Hindi band, whose aim is to spread knowledge about Indian music and genres abroad.
