Find Broken Links to Build Back Links

While looking at your competitors, you can also look at their Broken Links. The strategy of building broken links is another quick and easy way to catch backlinks.

Broken links are links that no longer exist or work on a website. They can also be caused by a source website that removes those links (also known as error 404), has the wrong URL, or the destination website may be closed or relocated.

And if you are using Ahrefs, enter the URL of the website in its Site Explorer and click Broken under the Backlinks options in the left-hand menu. The tool will show you all the broken links of your competitor. Once you have a list of broken links, the next step is to contact the Webmaster of these websites and report the broken link.

Then name the different breaches of the broken link, including your website. Chances are that the webmaster will use your website as an alternative and you will get a backlink in return.
