Amazon to Open Bookstore in Denver?

There is an unconfirmed report on the local business site Business Den that Amazon is looking to open a bookstore in Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood:

The online retail giant is looking to bring its brick-and-mortar bookstore concept to the Denver neighborhood, according to a source familiar with the deal.

The store would be about 5,000 square feet, according to the source. Amazon did not respond to a request for comment.

The first Amazon Books location opened in November 2015 in Seattle.

Amazon currently operates 13 bookstores in seven states, and is building stores on DC, Texas and Maryland.

There’s also an unconfirmed store in Atlanta, thus making the Denver store Amazon’s 18th Amazon Books location – if and when it launches.

It won’t be Amazon’s first brick-and-mortar location in the Denver Metro area, however; the retailer has a couple pop-up stores in the area, including one at the Cherry Creek Mall, and around a dozen Whole Foods supermarkets.

Denver is also on the short list for Amazon’s second HQ.
