How to Create Reusable Blocks in Gutenberg Editor?

After creating the block, add the content that you want to reuse on your blog post and style them according to your needs.

After creating the block, click on 3 dots menu in the toolbar and click on “Add To Reusable Blocks” option.

Now you’ll be asked to provide a name for this block. Give a name and click on save.

In your post edit screen, click on + add block button and go to reusable blocks. Under the reusable blocks section, you’ll find your saved blocks. You can also search the block by typing the name in the search bar.

Hover your mouse to see the block preview and click on it to insert on your WordPress post or page.

How to Manage Reusable Blocks in Gutenberg Editor?

You can manage all saved blocks by clicking the “manage all reusable blocks“ option.

By clicking this you’ll be redirected to block management page where you can edit, delete, import and export the reusable blocks.

If you decide to edit anything in your reusable blocks, keep in mind that changing the reusable block will change the content in every location wherever you used it.

If you just want to change the content in only that particular post, first convert that block into a regular block and make your changes that will only effect in that post.

Click on the 3 dot menu in the block toolbar and click on “convert to regular block” option.

Now you can make changes that will not affect the original reusable block.

How To Export And Save The Reusable Blocks In Other WordPress Websites?

If you have more than 1 website, you no need to create Reusable Blocks for every website.

You can just export and import Reusable Blocks to use them on other WordPress websites.

In block management page click on the export option below the block. Now that reusable block will export as a JSON file.

You need to export every single reusable block to use on other websites.

Now go to another website admin area and go to block management screen.  Then click on “Import from JSON” button.

WordPress now ill ask you to choose the file to upload. Click on choose option and select the JSON file you downloaded earlier.

Now click on Import. WordPress will import the file and save the blocks in your WordPress database which are available to use in on your new website.
