Fix: Windows Spotlight Not Working In Windows 10

Solution 1: Using File Explorer

You should be able to fix Windows spotlight not working in Windows 10 by using File Explorer. To do that, follow these steps:

Step 1. First of all, you have to disable Windows Spotlight in Settings app. You just navigate to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen > Background > Windows spotlight and select Picture / Slideshow option.

Step 2. Next, you press Windows + E keys to open File Explorer. Select View then check Hidden items option (as picture below)

Step 3. Now you go to following location:

C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_\LocalState\Assets

Note: Change the YOURUSERNAME with your user account name.

Step 4. Then you delete everything in the Assets folder and make the folder empty.

Step 5. Finally, you enable Windows spotlight feature by going Settings > Personalization > Lock screen > Background, select Windows spotlight.

Now press Windows + L keys to lock screen and check. You should be able to see Windows Spotlight screen now.

Solution 2: Run System Maintenance Troubleshooter Windows 10

To solve Windows spotlight not working error, you can run System Maintenance Troubleshooter Windows 10. To do that, follow these steps:

Step 1. At first, you open the troubleshooting packages by going to Control Panel > Troubleshooting > View all. You will see the list of available built-in troubleshooters in Windows 10 here.

Step 2. Now you select System Maintenance troubleshooter. You click on Advanced option then click Next and allow the troubleshooter identify problems (as picture below)

Step 3. If a troubleshooter require running as administrator, you just to click Try troubleshooting as an administrator option

Step 4. Again the troubleshooter will detect issues and cross-check with the default settings of your computer.

Step 5. If there are any issues found, the troubleshooter will automatically try to resolve it.

Step 6. When troubleshooting has completed and detected issue has been fixed, you can select View detailed information link at the bottom of this window to have complete information about troubleshooting operation

Step 7. Therefore, you can easily explore on what settings troubleshooter made checks and what gets resolved. Now you click Next and close the troubleshooter.
