Delta 8-THC is not as well-known as Delta 9-THC. It’s also not as well-known as other cannabinoids like CBD and THC – but Delta 8-THC does provide its own powerful benefits. For those interested in Delta 8 THC, One of the most common questions we see from people is how long Delta-8-THC stays in your system.

It is a very valid question since Delta-8 is a psychoactive cannabinoid. Though it does have less potent psychoactive effects than its close relative, Delta-9-THC, that doesn’t mean Delta-8 won’t stay in your system as long.

The length of time Delta 8 THC stays in the body or continues to show in a drug test depends on many factors. These include:

  • how much body fat a person has
  • how often they consume the drug
  • how much someone smokes
  • the sensitivity of the drug test

THC is a lipid-soluble chemical. This means that it binds to fat in the body, which increases the length of time it takes for someone to eliminate THC completely.

  • Blood test, THC will remain in your blood for up to one day.
  • Saliva test, THC will remain in your saliva until you swallow fully, which can last up to two days.
  • Urine test, THC can remain in your urine for up to 3- 30 days depending on the usage.
  • Hair tests are the most sensitive tests, detecting THC for up to 90 days after use.

Different types or strains of cannabis can produce different effects. One variety may produce a more intense high, or one that lasts longer than another. But the same plant can also produce different effects in others.

When smoking or vaping Delta 8 THC cartridge, you can expect the onset effects to begin in roughly six minutes after inhalation, although this can vary from person-to-person. However, once the effects have appeared, they can last up to several hours.  though the intensity will generally decrease after the first hour or so.

  • Delta 8 Onset: 6 Minutes
  • Delta 8 Lasts: Up to 5 Hours
  • Delta 8 Peak: 30 Minutes to 2.5 Hours

Delta 8 is psychoactive, but its intoxicating qualities are not a given like with delta 9 THC. The psychoactive properties are reported to enhance your mood and put you in somewhat of a happy place. Some users have reported to have a mild case of “the munchies”, and other experiences similar to Delta-9 THC.

What Is Difference Between Delta-8 THC and Delta-9 THC

While they are two different chemical compounds native to the cannabis plant, they are very closely related by sharing many similarities. Actually, the only real difference is its placement. Both Delta-8 THC and Delta-9 THC contain double bonds, but Delta-8 contains the bond on the 8th carbon chain, while Delta-9 contains the bond on the 9th carbon chain, hence the names.

They both bind to the CB1 receptor and offer psychotropic effects; however, Delta-8 THC is half as strong, delivering a lower potency, which some find more tolerable and suitable for recreational use. In other words, Delta-8 THC could help you enjoy the benefits of ordinary THC (like the feeling of being high) without the unwanted side effects (like paranoia and anxiety) caused by getting too high.

Does Delta 8 Make You Fail A Drug Test?

Yes, you will fail a drug test since Delta-8 is Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Delta-8 produces these same metabolites in the body. How they get picked up by a drug test is the question, but presumably, when testing for metabolites, one can assume the test will be activated by Delta-8 as well. After all, the compounds are very similar chemically. It is a psychoactive compound that is a variation of Delta-9, therefore you can expect to fail a drug test.
