No Sympathy for Poor Criminals

I have no sympathy for Poor people who can't afford their fines. To paraphrase Sammy Davis Jr. from the Baretta theme song, don’t do the crime if you can’t pay the fine. And to directly quote him from that same song, “Don’t roll the dice if you can’t pay the price.” When I was poor, I went out of my way to avoid doing things that would incur fines that I couldn't afford. I still go out of my way to avoid traffic tickets and the like, even though I can afford the fines now. Contrary to what liberal indoctrination efforts might try to tell us, being poor is no excuse for breaking the law. Actually, poverty should be a deterrent to crime, as the poor can least afford the penalties and the legal representation that is often required. Poor people who break the law in spite of this fact are not only poor but stupid as well.
