Fizza Abbas

You often dictate me to always seek the better option

but you never dared to define the word better itself

May I ask the reason behind the feigned hopes

that you had given me earlier?

Were you hopeful that they won’t turn up the way I wanted?

or sad that your intention would be subsided by

a game of chance or a matter of fact?

I want to know what made you instill false prejudices

in the guise of moral values inside my head

You must have thought I would let these values carve my life

as the venom of Inculcation is enough

to destroy the tapestry of reason,

and this is how you play with this inherent incoherence

that lays the foundation of inculcation,

you know the tricks to hide the treason

that inculcation gives to the reason

by not letting it do its job in a way

that its individuality doesn’t get over-shadowed,

it tries to start a war with reason

to meet up to the pseudo expectations

of the long-established view of justice and wisdom,

and gets a lot to boast

upon coming out as triumphant

as reason succumbs to them

not because it feels that it is weak

but because it knows the caliber of these so-called virtues

and the truth that cements their ideologies—

their strength and weakness is the same:

independent dependency;

and their defeat would reveal this fact to the world

providing them a chance to organize boisterous butcheries

in the name of harmony and peace,

so reason found a useful option

to make them feel that they are the better ones.

How easily reason brought them to a point

where descent becomes their massive pride!
