About the exam:

IBPS is an organisation that  has started common written examination( CWE), to recruit the candidates in various public sector banks. It conducts this exam yearly once and the score card is valid for a year.

Eligibility criteria:

Nationality:

A candidate must be either –
(i) Must be a Citizen of India or
(ii) a subject of Nepal or
(iii) a subject of Bhutan or
(iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favor a  certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Age:

Minimum Age 20 years.
Maximum Age 28 years
Note that candidate have not been born earlier then the date 02-08-1986 and not later then date 01-08-1994 (Both dates are included).

There is relaxation in the upper age for SC candidates up-to 5 years. And for OBC candidates it is 3 years and Person with Disability have upper age relaxation upto 10 years.

Educational qualification:

Candidate who want to apply for IBPS IV recruitment must have graduation degree from any recognized institute or college/University.
Candidate must have operating knowledge of Computer.
Candidate must have knowledge of speak, read and write of official language of State/UT he/she is applying for.

Status of CWE 2014 is on going. If you are late as of now and wishing to appear for next academic year , IBPS follow the same schedule in the year 2015 IE July and expect notification around this month. I suggest you to regularly check the official website of IBPS http://www.ibps.in for details and updates.

How to apply for CWE:

Examination fee:

Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
Rs. 600 /- for all others

Pattern of exam and cut off marks:

 

There is a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer. Every candidate must obtain minimum score in each section and overall score. The cut off marks are decided based on the vacancies. The shortlisted candidates are called for the interview.

How to prepare for the written test:

Non verbal reasoning

Most series questions are simple with one or two types of modifications in the series, i.e. addition, deletion, rotation or modification. Carefully establish the relationship so that you do not miss an important part.

logical reasoning include statement and assumption,Inference,conclusion,course of action,cause and effect.

As a observation from the diagram no. of questions are asked from syllogism and input-output. concentrate on these topics.To answer the syllogism questions Venn diagram are advisable.

More practice is needed for arrangement linear and circular to complete the question in second of time.

English Language : It comprises of 50 question carrying 40 marks. Image depicted below tells you how many questions will be asked from each section

Reading a daily news paper or some novels will help you build your vocabulary and practice speaking in English. Best way to crack this section. I attached here two PDF files of previous IBPS papers. eng lang 1 eng lang

Numerical ability : This section comprises of 50 questions carrying 50 marks

As you observed 20 questions are asked from data interpretation, to answer all the question from data interpretation here are the tips and tricks

  • Increase your mental calculation speed. Practice makes you make perfect
  • Develop a sense of approximation
  • be careful with units and have sound knowledge on percentages, you may have to compute percentages in 50% of the questions.

After data interpretation next important topic is simplification, learn the necessary short cut techniques and practice more to solve such kind of questions.

profit and loss,percentage and number series also has weight age of question practice with short cut formulas and save time. Apply vedic methods if possible,

Have a detailed look at the topics and questions related to it and avoid wasting time on other topics like Averages,area and volume.

Prepare Selected Section from Basic Economics: Some sections of Basic Economy should be prepared thoroughly which includes:

  • Basics of Macroeconomics
  • Money & Banking
  • RBI: Its Functions, Monetary Policy, Credit Control
  • Banking Regulations Act 1949
  • Capital Market(NSE,BSE); SEBI
  • Taxing in India
  • Negotiable Instrument Act, Foreign Trade

Banking Operations|Banking Terminology: A good number are questions are framed from Banking Operations. The preparation of the topic must include:

  • Functions of Banks
  • Account Opening Related
  • Non Performing Assets
  • Funds Transfer Related
  • Important Banking Terminology

Prepare for Important Committees, International & National Organisations: Be prepared with basic information on IMF, WTO, SAARC, ASEAN, G-8 etc..

Prepare Important Topics from Current Affairs:

  • Current Developments from Basic Economy, Banking, RBI
  • Awards and Honours conferred from the last six months
  • Books and Authors
  • Sports
  • Government Plans & Schemes
  • Committees and Commissions in News

Computer Knowledge

  • Prepare Networking & Internet Thoroughly: A careful analysis of question papers signify that a good number of questions asked from Networking & Internet. Interview process:

The candidates who are shortlisted in the written exam are called for an interview and is conducted by participating organization and coordinated by  nodal banks in each state / UT, with the help of IBPS. Interviewers will be conducted at select centers. The details of interview is informed to the students through call letter and candidates are required to download the call letter from the website http://www.ibps.in. The total marks are allocated for interview is 100. Candidate should score 40% ( SC,ST,OBC 35%) The weight age score for test and interview is 80:20. The candidate who scores both is shortlisted for provisional allotment. Make sure you take all the list of document when you attend the interview. List of documents will be in your call letter.

Tips to face an IBPS PO interview

The most impressive part of interviewee is his personality and behavior. Some points will help the candidates in impressing the board members, which are as follows:

  • Simple and formal dress
  • Walking and sitting in proper posture
  • Relaxed behavior
  • Smiling when entering and leaving the interview room
  • Looking at the interviewer while talking
  • Shaking hands when invited firmly and briefly
  • Speaking clearly and loudly
  • Adhering to point of discussion

Provisional Allotment:

On completion of the interview process, depending on the vacancies to be filled in during the financial year 2015-16 based on the business needs of the Participating Organisations and as reported to IBPS, candidates shortlisted 8 will be provisionally allotted to one of the Participating Organisations, based on merit-cum-preference keeping in view the spirit of Govt. Guidelines on reservation policy, various guidelines issued by Govt. of India/Others from time to time, administrative exigency, etc.
