New Drug Regulations in the United Arab Emirates. In October 2018, the United Arab Emirates introduced new regulations regarding the transport and possession of certain drugs. According to them, travelers are currently required to complete an electronic form to obtain permission to import certain medications. These changes are part of the ministry’s strategy to improve community health, provide greater oversight regarding the approval of drugs imported directly or indirectly by passengers. Drugs will be checked on entry into the country by a ministry inspector in cooperation with customs authorities. Conditions The authorization requirement applies to narcotic and psychotropic drugs, controlled and partially controlled medicines.
