"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them." ~ Psalm 139:13-16
Today, January 27, 2017 marks the 43rd March for Life, since Roe v. Wade over 53 million babies have been killed in the womb. Additionally, today marks International Holocaust Remembrance day, may we never forget the more than 6 million exterminated for no reason other than hate. I think a day like today when we remember so many lost we have the opportunity to rethink things and work towards cultivating a Culture of life.
I am so very thankful that the new administration is Pro-Life and they are making no excuses for it. Today Vice President Mike Pence and Senior White House Counsel Kelly Ann Conway will headline the speakers today, as will NFL Star Benjamin Watson. It is time that we as a country turn the page on stain of Abortion in this country. It is time we cultivate a culture of life from conception to death. However, it is not enough to just speak out about abortion and this is where I feel the Church falls woefully short.
The Church needs to take the lead in cultivating a Culture of Life. Does your church come alongside women who are pregnant and struggling with having an abortion or carrying to term? Are you willing to walk beside her throughout her pregnancy and support her where you can? It is not enough to say don't have an abortion, we must be willing to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Being pregnant can be terrifying. Are you willing to help her as she is home on maternity leave? Are you willing to help her if she chooses adoption?
Does your church have a program/counseling for women who have had an abortion. The church needs to ensure these women are loved well, and we need to ensure we are not being judgmental nor condemning. We need to love these women and remember that Jesus meets all of us where we are, we need to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Does your church advocate for Adoption? Does your church celebrate adoptions and help people who are in the adoption process? Adoption is awesome but the process is sadly slow and expensive, I pray that this administration will set national standards for Foster Care and Adoption.
It is not enough for the Church to speak against abortion, WE the church need to be the hands and feet of Jesus and lead the way in cultivating a culture of life. All lives matter to God, Christ died for each of us. Each life is a blessing from the Almighty.
Today pray for those who March for Life.
Today pray that our Churches will help cultivate a culture of Life in a world that is at times focused on death.
Today pray for God's wisdom and discernment for our new Administration.
