Lately, there has been a lot of talk about public bathrooms. Those on both sides of the issue have said some illogical things, but as usual, the prize for simplistic thinking goes to the ultra-liberal left.
Those on the left feel that one should be fine with individuals using any restroom or fitting room of their choice, whether they are male or female. If you disagree and voice concern about adult men sharing a restroom with your 10 year-old daughter, then you are labeled a prejudiced bigot. Obviously, due to their limited comprehension, Liberals don’t seem to realize that not all arguments are black and white (no race pun intended!).
Liberals have simplified the argument to a simple dichotomy: Those who support Transgendered Individuals, and those who see them as dangerous pedophiles who deserve our scorn. A simplistic argument, while often wrong, is just so much easier to fit on signs while one is at a protest, rather than working.
The truth of the matter is that this is a nuanced issue. A Transgendered person may have under gone years of hormone therapy, had surgical procedures, and may have legally changed their name. In every way, they have made a series of life-altering decisions to embrace a new gender identity. I really don’t care what bathroom these people use.
Many transgendered individuals have probably been using their bathroom of choice for a while now, and not too many people seemed to notice or care, besides a small handful of state legislators. Ultimately, liberals, and their unreasonable views, will do more to harm transgendered individuals than help them.
What I do find troubling is an absence of common sense. Do you really think some guy should be allowed into the women’s bathroom simply because he may (pretend) to identify with a woman that day? If you do, you have more serious problems than bathroom politics.
