New York's WFP Pushes Delegates Toward Clinton

The New York chapter of the National Working Families Party (WFP) voted Thursday night to instruct its two Delegates to vote in favor of Hillary Clinton when the Party formally endorses a Presidential candidate in the coming weeks.

The left-leaning, labor-backed WFP endorsed Bernie Sanders in the Primary race against Clinton.

That endorsement, which was decided after the Party conducted a National internet poll, was controversial within the Party's rank and file.

Some union members were already backing Clinton.

New York's two Delegates to the National Party are:

Karen Scharff of Citizen Action

Javier Valdez of Make the Road New York

They will join Delegates from 10 other states to make an endorsement in the General election.

The move is intended, a spokesman said, to send a signal to disaffected WFP members that they should not sit out the General Election in November and run the risk of allowing Trump, the Republican nominee, to win the Presidency.
