VA Republican Convention Using RCV to Choose Nominee

Incumbent Gov. Ralph Northam (D) is unable to seek Re-Election due to Term Limits. In Virginia, Governors are limited to a Single, Four-year Term, and may Not seek Re-Election until the Next Governor's Term is up.

The Seven Republicans running for Virginia Governor are making their Final Appeals to the record 53,000 Delegates who’ve Signed-Up to Vote in their Party’s May 8th Nominating Convention.

Because it’s a Ranked-Choice-Vote (RCV) Contest that requires a Majority to Win.

If their is No Winner on the First Count, Ballots will be Tallied, when a Voter’s First Choice is Cut, the Candidate who had the Least Votes, their Next Choice gets Counted.

The Candidate Filing Fee is $14,000.00.

Republican Convention Candidates:

- Amanda Chase, Virginia State Senate

- Kirk Cox, Virginia House of Delegates

- Peter Doran

- Octavia L. Johnson

- Pete Snyder, Owner New Media Strategies, a Social Media Marketing Company

- Glenn Youngkin, former Co-CEO and President of The Carlyle Group, a Global Investment Firm

- Sergio de la Pena

Due to Coronavirus Crowd-size Restrictions, the 2021 Virginia Republican Convention will be an Unassembled Convention held across 39 Satellite Locations.

Unlike previous Conventions in the State, there will be No Limit on how many Delegates can Cast Votes, which will be weighted according to the Number of Delegate Votes allocated to each Locality.

Delegates will cast a Single Ballot using RCv to determine a Majority Vote Winner, rather than using Multiple Rounds of Voting.
