NY Fighting Unwanted Pipelines and Climate Killers

In the last Three months, Four Huge Pipelines across our Country have been Stopped or Delayed. And just this week, New York State Comptroller, Tom DiNapoli, finally Divested from Coal.

In May, the Williams Company was Denied Permits for their Fracked Gas Pipeline through NYC Harbor.

Last week, Duke and Dominion Energy walked away from the $8 billion Atlantic Coast Pipeline, Cancelling the Project Completely.

Energy Transfer was Ordered by a Federal Judge to Stop the Flow of Oil in the Notorious Dakota Access Pipeline and Keystone XL Construction was Delayed yet again.

These are huge Victories. They were only possible because of Decades of People Powered Campaigns.

We have another Huge Opportunity in New York. New York State’s Pension Fund had more than $600 million Invested in the Companies above. That’s a lot of Cash propping up a Failing Industry out to Destroy our Climate. And that’s a lot of Taxpayer Cash Invested in increasingly Risky and Financially Challenged Energy Companies.

So far, 97 Legislative Sponsors on the Fossil Fuel Divestment Act (S2126A) to Direct the State Comptroller to go further and fully Divest the State Pension Fund from Fossil Fuels. If passed, this Legislation will be a Boost to State Pension Divestment Campaigns right across the USA.
