Biden Presidential Campaign Taps Obama Administration Member to Lead Cybersecurity Team


Joe Biden’s Presidential Campaign has hired a Veteran Cybersecurity Expert to Oversee its Defense against Hackers during a General Election expected to Attract Significant Interest from Foreign Adversaries.

Chris DeRusha, new (SISO) a Former White House Cyber-Adviser and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cyber-Staffer in the Obama Administration, has joined the Campaign as its Chief Information Security Officer. DeRusha most recently Served as Michigan’s Chief Security Officer.

Filling out the Tech Ranks, the Biden Campaign has also hired Silicon Valley Veteran, Jacky Chang, as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Chang was a Senior Engineer on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Presidential Campaign and worked for the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) Voter Protection Team during the 2018 Midterms. Chang will be on leave from her Role as Senior Technologist at Schmidt Futures, the Philanthropic Firm run by Former Google Executive, Eric Schmidt.

The Biden Campaign faces a Diverse Array of Cyber-Threats and needs a Top-Notch Team to Defend its Staff and Volunteers from Digital Attacks.

In a Statement, the Campaign said it “takes cybersecurity seriously and is proud to have hired high quality personnel with a diverse breadth of experience, knowledge, and expertise to ensure our campaign remains secure.”

DeRusha and Chang “will be central to strengthening the infrastructure we've built to mitigate cyber threats, bolster our voter protection efforts, and enhance the overall efficiency and security of the entire campaign," the Statement said.

The Campaign has Posted Job Applications for Several Roles on DeRusha’s Team. It has posted Wanted Ads for Two Senior Cybersecurity Jobs on its Website: a Senior Cyber-Incident Response Threat Analyst and a Senior Cloud Security Architect, as well as several Technology Jobs.

Biden Campaign's Cybersecurity Efforts is a constant Fight to fend off Phishing Attacks, Misleading Emails full of Malicious Software that can allow Hackers to Steal Personal Information and then get into the Protected Systems.

The Trump Campaign has also hired Someone to handle Cybersecurity Full-Time, but have Not named the Person.
