The Serve America Movement (SAM) Won its Consolation Prize on Election Day in New York.

While their Gubernatorial Nominee, Stephanie Miner, came about 3.3 Million Votes short of Andrew Cuomo’s Vote Total on his way to a Third Term as Governor, her current 51,367 Votes were enough to Earn the Party Formal Recognition as a Ballot Qualified Party for the next Four years in New York.

The Serve America Movement (SAM) Party was launched this year with Bipartisan Support as an Alternative to the Democratic and Republican Parties.

Michael Willner, a Member of the Party’s Board of Directors, said the Serve America Movement Party is in its infant Stages in New York, and will “soon” be Crafting Rules and choosing a State Chair. He said the will be a “Very Active Party,” but conceded they likely won’t have a Slate of Candidates Running in New York’s Local Elections next year. “We’re in the formation stage right now,” he said.

The Party hopes to field its Own Candidates in the Future, but Willner said they haven’t Ruled Out the Possibility of Cross Endorsing Candidates from other Parties in the Right Situation.

While other States don’t have the Same Process for Recognizing Parties, he said, “New York was the first state where we have long-term ballot access activity behind us.”

The Automatic Ballot Access was only Narrowly achieved, as the Party barely Exceeded the 50,000 Governor Votes it needed. Willner said they were anxious Watching the Early Results come in, but were Confident that Miner would Perform Well in the Parts of the State that would be slower to Report. “We were pretty confident,” he said.

If the Party is Successful in Securing Ballot Access for a Vast Majority of States by 2020, it’s likely they will Back an Independent Candidate for President.
