Kansas County Election Commission Changes to Local Voting Procedures Could Limit Access to Polls




Kansas Sedgwick County Election Commissioner, Tabitha Lehman, appointed in 2011, has made some changes to Voting Procedures in Sedgwick County for the April 11th Special Election to replace CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

In order to determine why these changes were made, under the Kansas Open Records Act § 45-215 et seq., a requestwill be filed to obtain copies of the following public records:

- Any email, letter, memo or other document to or from Secretary Kobach or any employee of the Kansas Secretary of State's Office regarding the April 11, 2017 Special Election.

- Any email, letter, memo or other document between Secretary Kobach or any employee of the Kansas Secretary of State's Office and any employee of Sedgwick County between November 9, 2016 and March 9, 2017.

- Any email, letter, memo or other document between Secretary Kobach or any employee of the Kansas Secretary of State's Office and the White House between November 9, 2016 and March 9, 2017.

- Any email, letter, memo or other document between Secretary Kobach or any employee of the Kansas Secretary of State's Office and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, any member or employee of the United States House of Representatives, any employee of the National Republican Congressional Committee, or any employee of the Republican National Committee between November 9, 2016 and March 9, 2017.

- Any email, letter, memo or other document between Secretary Kobach or any employee of the Kansas Secretary of State's Office and any employee of the United States Department of Justice between November 9, 2016 and March 9, 2017.

- Any email, letter, memo or other document between Secretary Kobach or any employee of the Kansas Secretary of State's Office and any employee of the United States Department of Homeland Security between November 9, 2016 and March 9, 2017.

The Kansas Open Records Act requires a response time within three business days.
