Nigeria Troops override Boko Haram terrorists in seven villages

The Nigerian troops have successfully defeated Boko Haram in seven different villages where they were once dominant.

This much was revealed by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the spokesperson of the Nigerian army, in a press statement on his official Facebook wall.

The statement reads: “As the ongoing clearance and rescue operations gained momentum, troops of 28 Task Force Brigade have successfully cleared enclaves of Boko Haram terrorists along Galtha Baba, Galtha Musa, Bulakurma, Shatimari, Chukruk, Bulangaje, and Disa villages.

“During the operation, 1 Boko Haram terrorist was captured alive and 3 motorcycles, bags of grains, their flags and uniforms were recovered. Other items include suicide bomber’s hijab, mobile phone and 1 Dane gun, as well as foodstuffs and cooking utensils.

“The troops also rescued 15 persons that were held hostages by the Boko Haram terrorists in the area.”

While explaining that the soldiers faced some difficulties in their raid, he noted that no casualty was recorded from their end.

“Unfortunately, two Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) entered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). However, the formation did not sustain any human casualty and the damage to the AFVs was minimal.

“The captured terrorist is being interrogated and would soon be taken to the relevant agencies for prosecution,” the statement read.

In a related development, the army, in continuation of its ‘Operation Crackdown’ in Sambisa forest, has arrested three Boko Haram leaders.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, spokesperson of the military, informed that this was achieved by the troops of 26 and 223, Battalions of the army headquarters strike group and armed forces special forces.
