An Improved Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty to Be Signed In the Future

Last Sunday, the Jordanian King announced that Jordan is going to cancel bits of the Peace Treaty (it signed with Israel in 1994): the Kingdom will not extend the lease of the Arava and Naharayim regions to the Jewish State. This small detail is yet another example of a bad deal, with Washington’s blessing. Why is this issue even being brought up here on DS? Because, the way we see it, this represents the first step into the completion of the Plan.

The Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty

6. "Without prejudice to private rights of ownership of land within the area, this Annex will remain in force for 25 years, and shall be renewed automatically for the same periods, unless one year prior notice of termination is given by either Party, in which case, at the request of either Party, consultations shall be entered into." – in Annex I (b) (source)

So far, so good: Jordan is not in breach of the treaty. However, and this is where this agreement proves to be a bad one, the annex doesn’t explain what happens if Jordan decides to terminate the lease at the end of 25 years, leaving everything up to debate during the consultations:

  • Will Jordan compensate the Jewish owners of this private land?
  • Will these Jewish owners no longer be protected by the Israeli law, but by the Jordanian law?

Note: Is someone in the Jordanian Court preparing to build, in Arava and in Naharayim, a weapon-storage facility for the MB or even a military base?

The treaty’s text is clear that the rights of the Jewish owners of the private land are not to be abandoned (i.e. “without prejudice”), which can only mean that Jordan is announcing that Jewish farmers/owners will be placed under Jordanian rule, which could pose a problem if the Muslim Brotherhood stages any kind of provocation against Jewish elements in the region. But all Jordanian political actors must remember that if one single Jewish hair is touched Israel is obligated “to ensure the safety of the members of the Jewish people in trouble or in captivity due to the fact of their Jewishness or their citizenship.” (in Nationality Law 2018) which means a war to defend our people could break out.

It is curious that the treaty doesn’t foresee such a scenario and it should have inasmuch as, by 1994, the Jordanian Royal Family had already been under the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) threat for quite some time - i.e. since the Black September days in the 1970’s. So, why didn’t Yitzchak Rabin or even the Clinton Administration predict the scenario described above? Probably because not only Bill Clinton wanted to look good on the books but also because, after the Oslo Accords (another bad deal signed in 1993), Jordan – knowing the PLO/PA would eventually forfeit the deal, as they did - wanted to make sure it would procrastinate the One State Solution under the form of a “Palestinian” state in Jordan for as much time as it could.

The truth is that Jordan is Palestine and Palestine is Jordan - King Hussein of Jordan, in 1981.

The Genesis of the Problem:

Jordan represents roughly 80% of the territory foreseen, in the British Mandate, as the future Homeland of the Jewish People (i.e. Palestine). The British later on illegally turned the tables and granted this 80% of land to the Hashemite Tribe, after failing to grant Syria to Prince Faisal due to his assistance in the war against the Ottomans.

In simpler words, King Hussein had somewhat a point when he said “Jordan is Palestine”. Prince Hassan, in 1970, had already said "Palestine is Jordan and Jordan is Palestine; there is only one land, with one history and one and the same fate," – so, if a framework for peace is to be designed, do it based on this Jordanian position and on the fact that an “Arab Palestine” is an invented problem whose solution lies upon a concocted alternative. This time we work based on Facts, not on Fakery.

What does the “Palestinian” issue got to do with this topic? It has everything to do with it because this latest decision by King Abdullah is a result of the shifts in the US policy for the Middle East (though officially it is a response to the mass protests, most likely organised by Muslim Brotherhood elements, calling for the end of the peace agreement with Israel); so, if the King is making an ill calculation to survive then he, and his family, will certainly fall.

The King’s Calculations are a Mistake

“The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan doesn’t want to be Palestine. It would lose its national identity. Jordanian leaders worry that American talk of confederation unintentionally encourages a Palestinian takeover of their country.” (source)

How would it lose its national identity if, since 1948, the Hashemite Royal Family has been saying Palestine and Jordan are one? How would it lose its national identity if even Abdul Hamid Sharif, Jordan’s PM in 1980, said "The Palestinians and Jordanians do not belong to different nationalities. They hold the same Jordanian passports, are Arabs and have the same Jordanian culture."

King Abdullah is not thinking it through: instead of appeasing the Muslim Brotherhood, it should reach out to Israel for help; since it is always better to have the Hashemite Royal Family in power than the Muslim Brotherhood. Having said this, the King should understand a couple of things:

  • He may keep the Arava region, since it is not part of the Land G-d granted to the 12 Tribes. Yet, Jewish owners are to be compensated.
  • He is to give back, however, the Naharayim region to Israel (fact: it used to be Israeli land till Yitzchak Rabin ceded it to Jordan), since this territory belonged to either Issachar or Naftali – two of the 12 Tribes of Israel.

And this will only be the beginning of the Improved Peace Treaty that Jordan and Israel will sign in the future. If the King is reasonable enough to understand this, he remains in power. If he refuses, out of lack of Faith in Allah, then he and his family will fall and live in exile.

Final Note: For thousands of years, the People of Israel has put up with everybody's nonsense (שטויות) but that is over now...DS promises you.
