Update, August 29, 2018 (03:28 AM ET): The Honor 8X Max is now listed on Chinese retailer JD.com (as spotted by GSMArena), seemingly corroborating the design and a few specs seen on China’s TENAA website.

More specifically, the Listing mentions a massive 7.12-inch display, as seen on the regulatory body’s website. The display is notched too, albeit with the trendy waterdrop-style notch first seen on Oppo and Vivo‘s phones. We also see 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, which also lines up with the TENAA filing.

The JD listing doesn’t confirm the Honor 8X Max’s battery capacity, however, pegged at 4,900mAh by the regulatory body. We also don’t have a chipset listed here, although one particular benchmark references a Snapdragon 660 processor. Benchmarks aren’t always reliable and have been faked before but, if confirmed, a Snapdragon 660 would mark a departure for Huawei/Honor. The company generally sticks to the Kirin 970 and Kirin 710 for upper mid-range and premium devices.

The JD store listing has a few more Honor 8X Max details, however, such as a microUSB port, headphone jack, and no NFC. We’ll probably need to wait for Honor’s IFA event to confirm all the details, but I think it’s safe to say we can expect a massive device before the end of the year.

The latest information comes a few weeks after leaked photos what appeared to be the Honor 8X Max (or the standard Honor 8X) appeared online. The images, which surfaced on Weibo (via Gadgets360) and can be seen below, show a phablet with a waterdrop notch and Honor branding.

Original coverage, August 16, 2018, 07:49 AM ET: Specs for a new Honor phone codenamed Honor ARE-AL00 have arrived on TENAA. The listing was spotted by TechAndroids (via GSMArena), who speculates that it could be the as yet unannounced Honor 8X or the Honor 8X Max. There are a ton of details about the phone on TENAA, most notably its absolutely huge 7.12-inch 2,244 x 1,080 display.

Pictures included with the listing suggest the size of the device will be kept manageable due to a small, Essential Phone-like notch. The pictures also show a centrally-placed rear fingerprint sensor.

The listing says the phone will be powered by a 4,900mAh battery — necessary for the huge display — and a 1.8GHz octa-core processor. It also says the phone will have 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

The phone will come with an 8MP front-facing camera and a 16MP and 2MP rear dual camera, according to what’s on TENAA. It also appears set to come with Android 8.1 out of the box and will be available in blue, black, and red.

There is no price mentioned. However, should the phone indeed be the Honor 8X, it could cost similar to last year’s Honor 7X, which was around $200 upon release.

Should this be the case, it would offer buyers a large-screen Honor experience for much less than the price of the Honor Note 10 and its 6.95-inch display.
