Recently, Barbara Bush died at the age of 92 years. She was the wife of George H.W. Bush Sr. (41st President) and mother of George W. Bush Jr. (43rd President). Such a huge loss for America, however, the Presidential office release a statement that “President Trump will not be attending Barbara Bush’s Funeral to avoid disruption due to added security and out of respect for the Bush Family”.
Trump has sent his condolences to Bush Family and said that “Barbara’s presence and Character were engraved into America’s Identity”. Furthermore, Trump will be staying at his “Mar-a-lago” estate in Florida, while first lady Melania Trump will attend the Funeral.
Some analysists believed that Trump should have attended the Funeral rather than spending time at his Golf Resort. Whereas, others believe that it is “normal” for sitting president to not attend the funerals of former first ladies. For instance, Obama didn’t attend the funerals of Nancy Regan and Betty Ford.
This scenario instigated a debate over social media regarding whether President Trump should have attended the funeral of Barbara Bush
