Another cyber-attack, ‘Petya’ unleashed

The Nigerian info system development agency has alerted the entire populace on the emergence of another deadly virus it is more dangerous than Wannacry. The name is called Petya or Golden Eye virus.
It is capable of encrypting an entire Computer hard drive thereby rendering all computer system totally useless. According to the information from NITDA head, Isa Pantami, he said the deady virus has paralyzed computer systems across the world.
Based on the current info available, the attack is spreading quickly like bush fire. Countries affected are Demark, Russia, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Poland and USA. Also, it has been the discovered that the Petya gain access to affected system through current MS window patched in March 2017.

However, agency technical team are working to ensure the deadly attack is brought under control. This to ensure effective measures are in place to prevent access to established systems.
All system administrators and computer users are hereby advised to isolate or disconnect any system suspected of attack. To further prevent spreading of Golden eye virus, usage of pen drives or transfer of files from others sources are to be completely ignored.
He also urged system users to turnoff unnecessary/unneeded features; avoid downloading and opening unsolicited files and attachments; adjust security software to scan compressed or archived files; and avoid indiscriminate use of wireless connections, such as bluetooth or infrared ports.
