NAACP News: “Going Home” – NAACP delegation visits Ghana ahead of “Year of Return, Thana 2019” project

BALTIMORE, MD – Derrick Johnson, NAACP President and CEO, and Eris Sims, NAACP Chief of Staff, visited the West African country of Ghana, ahead of preparations for “Year of Return, Ghana 2019” project, a major landmark spiritual and birth-right journey, to mark 400 years of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in Jamestown, Virginia USA, in Ghana.

Mr Johnson also held discussions with officials of the Tourism Ministry, Tourism Authority and the Diaspora Affairs Office and ways to facilitate the reconnection of diasporans to their roots in Ghana.
