Today, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft announced receiving initiative petitions to amend the Missouri Constitution

Jefferson City, MO/December 8, 2017 (STL.News) – Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft today announced his office received four Initiative Petitions submitted by Patricia Thomas.

Petition 2018-313, Petition 2018-314, and Petition 2018-316 would amend Article XIV of the Missouri Constitution. Petition 2018-315 would amend Article VI of the Missouri Constitution.

Before circulating petitions for signatures, state law requires that groups must first have the form of their petition approved by the secretary of state’s office. The office then has 23 days after the form of the petition is approved to draft ballot summary language.

Comments will be taken pursuant to Section 116.334, RSMo. This provision allows Missourians to offer their observations on the submitted proposal online, by mail or phone. Missourians can provide their comments at http://www.sos.mo.gov/comment. The secretary of state’s office will review all comments submitted.
