  • A resident staying in a 600 sq.ft house of Kaveri Nagar of Karisandra ward in South Bengaluru has been charged property tax of Rs. 4.53 crore.
  • Aslam Pasha has been charged Rs. 4,53,32,161 for his ground-plus-one-floor house.
  • This is because of a technical glitch yet to be resolved by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP).

  • The girls in Bengaluru have overtaken the boys in the board exams held by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) this year.
  • In the Chennai region, including Karnataka and neighbouring states, the pass percentage of girls was 94.17% whereas it was 91.47% for boys.
  • The overall pass percentage of students however dipped by 1.03% last year.

  • Lawyers submit ultimatum to CM to ban chewing tobacco

  • A Lawyers' collective in Bengaluru submitted an ultimatum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, seeking a complete ban on chewing tobacco within the next 21 days.
  • Headed by freedom fighter HS Doreswamy, the collective is called Lawyers for Tobacco Control.
  • Failure to implement the ban will lead to the lawyers piling up dead bodies of those dying of tobacco-related diseases in front of CM Siddaramaiah's residence.
