  • SC finalizes judicial appointments procedure

  • The SC and the Centre had sparred on the issue for the last one year. The court took into consideration the Centre's national security clause while appointing judges to higher courts.
  • The court said it would also finalize appointments to the high courts soon.

  • 51 names cleared for HC judge posts

  • The Supreme Court Collegium has cleared 51 names for appointments as judges to 10 high courts in India. The announcement was made shortly after finalizing the memorandum of procedure for the appointment of judges to constitutional courts.
  • The list originally contained 90 names recommended by various high court collegiums.
  • 41% of the judges posts in 24 high courts still remain vacant.
