|Roger Federer defeated his long time rival Rafael Nadal in straight sets to cruise into the quarter-finals of BNP Paribas Open.
In his 13th victory against Nadal, Federer won 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and eight minutes.
35-year old Federer is chasing his fifth title at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, his last title being in 2012.

|Australia's Nick Kyrgios produced another phenomenal performance to defeat world number two Novak Djokovic at Indian Wells.
Kyrgios won 6-4, 7-6(3) to register second win over the Serbian in just three weeks.
The 21-year old said, "I am serving really well, that is creating chances for me to put pressure on their service games."

|Nick Kyrgios will face a challenge from the 18-times Grand Slam champion Roger Federer in the next round of the tournament. They both had earlier met at ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Madrid, where Nick had emerged a winner.|

|In other fourth round matches, Stan Wawrinka defeated Yoshihito Nishioka 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) to enter the quarter-finals.
Kei Nishikori registered an easy 6-2, 6-4 win over USA's Donald Young.
France's Gael Monfils was handed a 3-6, 2-6 loss by Dominic Thiem. Belgium's David Goffin also lost 3-6, 6-3, 3-6 to Pablo Cuevas in one hour and 38 minutes.

|Czech Republic's Karolina Pliskova had a tough time going past Garbine Muguruza in the women's singles quarter-finals match. After one hour and 56 minutes, Pliskova registered a 7-6(2), 7-6(5) win over the Spaniard to reach the semi-finals.
In other quarter-finals, Svetlana Kuznetsova eased past her compatriot Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3, 6-2 in a little over one hour to reach the next round.
