Item Specifics

The Mr. Heater Hunting Buddy Portable Space Heater is a patented radiant 6,000 to 12,000 BTU Liquid Propane heater that connects direcly to a 1 pound cylinder.  This heater is a great choice for heating enclosed spaces like cabins up to 300 square feet.  The swivel regulator gives you the ability to adapt usage from disposable cylinders to a remote gas supply with the purchase of a hose and filter.

To light the unit, push and rotate the knob.  There is a built in silent electric ignition that will take care of the rest.  The Oxygen Depletion Sensor and accidental tip-over safety shut-off keeps things safe.

Please note that this item is not allowed to be sold to Canada nor Massachusetts.  Also please note that if you will be using this heater at altitudes of over 7,000 feet sea level, the heater may shut off.

The weight of this heater is 9 pounds with dimensions of 10.2 x 15.5 x 16.5 inches.

7,000 Foot Elevation Limit

Bad news for all you mountain people, like myself.  This heater will not heat at over 7,000 feet.  If you are not going to be nearing this elevation then skip this section and happily read on to the other sections.  But if you do plan on using it at high elevations, it will most likely not start or will shut of.  Don't be caught unaware or misinformed like this customer, "READ THE USER MANUAL! Page 4 half way down the left side says the hunting buddy has an elevation limit of 7000' but their website says "NO" under elevation limit.  I contacted customer service to see which is correct and the 7000' limit is he correct one.  They said it may work but there were so many inconsistencies they had to put the limit on it. I bought this one because on the website it said there was no limit and I am going to Colorado hunting this fall where we camp at 10,000'.  I'm stuck with a heater that might or might not work."

Safety Shut Off.  Great Feature

You never know when you need the safety shut off feature, but it's good to know it's there.  The heater will shut off if it's bumped or if it falls over.  A customer explains his experience with this safety feature, "Used this on Lake St Clair, Michigan for ice fishing.  Works great! I like the spare storage for an extra 1lb tank, I used this on high and had to turn it down after only 15-20 mins in my two man shanty.  Auto shut off works, I knocked it over, set it up right again and it fired right back up. 1lb propane tank lasted me 1.5.2 hrs on mostly high with the wind blowing.  Would recommend."

Lightweight

At just 9 pounds, the Mr. Heater Hunting Buddy Portable Space Heater is easy to take just about anywhere.  Here a wife who bought one for her husband comments, "This heater has done its job, light weight, easily carried, and warm as a bug in a rug."  When you have to carry a heater anywhere, every less pound that you have to carry really does make a difference.

Great For Small Spaces

As the name implies, this is a great heater for hunters to heat up deer blinds and other small spaces.  Here one hunter testifies, "I used this Buddy heater to heat my 5 ft by 6 ft deer hunting shack. I found it easily kept the shack at 60 degrees with an outside temperature of 15. If the space you want to heat is that size or a little larger it will easily keep you warm. You definitely do not want a Buddy heater with two burners in this small of space."

If you are wanting a small heater for hunting or any outdoor activity where you need some extra heat, I recommend the Mr. Heater Hunting Buddy Portable Space Heater.  Because it runs on propane you will not need to be connected to an electric source.  The safety shut off feature is nice.  The heater will shut off if it is bumped.  You never know when you need this feature, so it's good that it's there.  The comments from hunters were over-welmingly positive for the Mr. Heater Hunting Buddy Portable Space Heater.  Just make sure the you are not going to be using it over 7,000 feet. It may not turn on nor work at high elevations.  Other than that, I would buy this heater with confidence.
