The Tree was already growing strongly when I took on the plot and I’ve given it two quite severe prunings to move the cherries lower down the tree so I can reach some to harvest but still leave enough for the birds towards the top of the tree. I now prune back the new growth about this time each year and it does seem to have improved the crop. Another bonus this year is the lack of pests – nothing worse than finding extra protein…

The raspberries and sweet pea are also moving into full production.
