In Patagonian mythology, the Wandering City is hidden in the valley of the Andes, said to contain treasures of diamonds and gold. These references appear heavily on this slot with Diamond Scatter/Wild Symbols and highlighted Gold Special symbols.

Essentially, this looks and plays like a Book Slot such as Book of Dead and Book of Ra Deluxe. The significant differences are the 243-way payline structure and the addition of Cumulative Multipliers.

Wandering City Slot - Base Gameplay

The base gameplay in the Wandering City takes place on a standard 5x3 reel set. The payline structure is a 243-way style which is unusual for a "book style slot".

The paytable reflects this with the top premium Explorer symbol paying a meagre 4x for 5 of a kind. Being a Book slot, you can expect the usual Expanding symbols in the bonus round, allowing full screens of winning combinations in a scatter like style paid over all these 243-ways.

This boosts the Explorer symbol to a more respectable 972x for a full screen of explorers (in the bonus round). One other notable feature has been added that can boost these wins further.

Multipliers

There is a chance on each spin in the base game and bonus round to activate 2x Multipliers on the middle three reels. These act as Cumulative Multipliers, so if several become active, the multipliers get multiplied together, giving a maximum value of 8x, which can be applied to any winning combination.

However, the reel strips don't seem to have been designed with a 243-way slot in mind, with no apparent stacked symbols present on any reels. Scoring several "way wins" in the base game requires an almost reliance on the special Diamond symbols, which acts as Scatter/Wilds.

Even with these wilds included, will that land frequently the base game appears to play like a mildly gimped Book slot, there is no kind way to say it. In essence, this slot has more high-end win potential thanks to the added multipliers, but a lot of the mid wins and occasional balance boosters seem to have been stripped out of this machine to balance this.

Essentially as with most book slots, you are looking to trigger the main free spins bonus feature as soon as possible.

This requires three or more of the Diamond Symbols, which act as a wild and are also the Scatter symbol.

Book Symbol

The Book Symbol in Rich Wilde and the Wandering City is a Diamond Symbol shown to the right, this ties in with the Patagonian mythology setting/theme.

This special Diamond symbol acts as a Wild and a Scatter symbol, just like all other Book slots.

The Rich Wilde or Explorer symbol is the highest paying symbol on this machine. This slot uses a 243-way payline system, though, so a 5 of a kind win pays just a 4x stake, with a full-screen expanding symbol win; however, you are looking at a win of 972x stake before any multipliers are even considered.

The golden edges shown in this Explorer version indicate this symbol has been chosen as the expanding symbol from the Book and will expand in the free spins when several land in view.

Triggering the main bonus feature is achieved by landing three or more Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels and awards an initial ten free spins.

During the bonus round, it is also possible to fully re-trigger the feature a maximum of 5 times. This awards an extra ten free spins each time. No additional symbols are added as special expanders.

The bonus round plays out like a regular book slot, with a chosen symbol acting as the expander being highlighted in gold for the duration of the feature.

This will expand and fill the entire reel when several land in view and award wins in scatter like style across all 243-ways if five matching symbols land on the five reels.

Cumulative Multipliers

The Multipliers are a randomly activated feature in the base game and bonus round. On the middle reels, you will notice they will occasionally become highlighted with a blue glow.

If wins are formed across the reels, then a multiplier of 2x is also applied to all wins. The exciting part of this feature is that it's possible to land multipliers on all three reels, and they act cumulatively.

A single reel would apply a 2x Multiplier, two reels would apply a 4x Multi (2x2), and a win that covered all three highlighted reels would award an 8x (2x2x2) Multiplier to wins that are formed on these reels.

This small addition to the gameplay helps boost the wins in base gameplay, but if this occurs in the free spins round can catapult overall wins to crazy levels.

A full screen of explorers pays 972x for a full screen, which could be boosted to a 7776x win if the 8x multiplier is applied!
