Liga MX player, Andres Felipe Ibargüen García is a Colombian winger who was born in the city of Cali, on May 7, 1992. His position on the field is a left-winger and he currently belongs to the Santos Laguna team of the Mexican Soccer League. In the beginning, Ibargüen played in his native land and made his professional debut in 2011 with Cortuluá. Later he was transferred to the team in the Colombian capital, Bogotá FC, where he had excellent performances in all the matches he participated, which then led him to sign with Deportes Tolima.
In playing for Deportes Tolima, Ibargüen scored three fundamental goals, in the Colombian League, the quarterfinals of the Copa Colombia 2014 against Atletico Nacional, and the grand final of the Copa Colombia 2014.
After his masterful performances with Deportes Tolima, Ibargüen signed for Atletico Nacional, where he made his long-awaited debut on January 27, 2016, in a 2016 Super League match against Deportivo Cali. The first goal with the team was scored on March 5 of that year vs. Boyaca Chico. The first Hat-Trick of his career was marked against Atlético Bucaramanga on April 3, 2016.
Another of his excellent achievements in Colombian soccer was becoming the champion of the Copa Libertadores de America in 2016. He also achieved the championship with his team from the 2017 opening tournament of the Colombian League.
Out of Home
Ibargüen was one of the best-priced Colombian footballers in the international market, which is why, in July 2017, Argentine Racing made use of his services by paying a transfer of USD 4,000,000 for 4 years, this being the club’s largest contract at the time.
Ibargüen only played one season in Argentina, as he leaped Mexican football by signing with Club America in January 2018. The most important achievements of Ibargüen with the Mexican team include the titles of Liga MX Apertura 2018, Copa MX Clausura 2019 and Campeón de Campeones.
Colombian National Team
On October 14, 2019, he fulfilled his biggest dream, which was the call to the Colombian National Team. His debut with the Colombian national jersey took place on October 15 of that year in the match where Colombia lost to Algeria 3-0.
After finishing the 2020 season of the Mexican league, Ibargüen decided to change his scene in Mexican football after knowing that he was not in DT Santiago Solari’s plans for the following season. Therefore, he officially disassociated himself from America and joined the ranks of Santos Laguna to play the LIGA MX – Guard1anes 2021 tournament where they currently occupy third place in the championship.
This season, Ibargüen has played 7 games with the Lagunero team, in which he has played 316 minutes and has given 1 goal assist. In those 7 games, he has started 3 of them.
