Chico Poker Network Unveils Boost Fast-Fold Poker

BetOnline Logo Logo

The Chico Poker Network is ringing in the New Year the right way: with the introduction of an additional style of poker to its product offerings. As of Jan. 1, 2018, the new format, called Boost, is available to play. It's a type of fast-fold poker wherein users who fold their hands move to new tables without delay to begin new hands. Boost is present at the two U.S.-facing skins of the Chico Network, BetOnline and

Boost Description

The new Boost games are listed in the regular cash game lobby. From the drop-down menu toward the top-left of the poker software, users can select Boost, and then they will see the stakes that are available. The main lobby display shows stats about each Boost pool, like the average pot size and number of players per flop, and to the right is a scrollable list of all participants.

At the time of this writing, the only Boost level that had actual players in it was $0.02/$0.05, so that's where we headed to get a sample of the gameplay. Upon double-clicking on a pool, you'll see the buyin screen. Here you get to choose how many chips you wish to bring to the tables, subject, of course, to certain minimum and maximum buyin values. You can choose to join up to four tables at a time, but this functionality seems not to have been implemented yet because we could only open a single table even if we selected a higher number.

The Boost tables appear almost identical to the regular ring game tables at the Chico Network. There is a new “Fast Fold” button that allows you to discard your hand instantly, even if it's not yet your turn to act, and move to a new table right away. The normal fold button also has a minor change: There's an icon of an eye atop it, and if you click on it, then you get to fold and observe the rest of the hand play out rather than going to another table immediately.

What Does Boost Mean for Chico?

Green Question Mark

There's only one other poker network for Americans that has fast-fold poker: the PaiWangLuo Network. Until today, therefore, the two PWL sites, and Ignition Casino, had a monopoly on the U.S. online fast-fold poker market. PaiWangLuo has the most cash game traffic among U.S. serving poker networks while Chico is in third place. The recent addition of Boost Poker could, in time, help upset this equation in Chico's favor.
