12 Days of Turbos Series Starts Dec. 2 at Ignition

Beginning on Dec. 2 and running through Dec. 13, the PaiWangLuo Network's 12 Days of Turbos series contains 50 events for online poker tourney enthusiasts to join. These tournaments will be accessible from Ignition Casino Poker, Bodog, and Bovada.lv. In total, there's more than $1 million in guaranteed prizes up for grabs.

Schedule

Every weekday during the date range of the series, four events will run: at 8:12 p.m., 9:12 p.m., 10:12 p.m., and 11:12 p.m. ET. On Saturdays, there will also be four tourneys per day while on Sundays, this expands to five. A few of the weekend competitions start earlier in the afternoon than those that run Monday - Friday.

Tournament Formats

The main feature of this series is that blind levels are shorter than in normal such games at the PaiWangLuo Network. Whereas standard network tournament levels are 12 minutes long, this drops to 10 minutes for the 12 Days of Turbos. Additionally, all contests marked “Turbo,” of which there are a couple dozen, have levels of only 6 minutes. Even faster structures will appear, like Super Turbo (3 minutes) and Hyper (2 minutes). The intention is to speed up the gameplay so that you don't have to spend hours before reaching the money. This is pretty convenient especially for the weekday tournaments when you might have to get up and go to work the next morning. There are 47 NL Hold'em events listed and just 3 in PL Omaha format. Buyins range from $12 + $1.20 to $425 + $25.

Notable Events

Despite the fact that these tournaments are expected to run a bit quicker than usual, you still might not have time to play all of them. Therefore, we've taken the liberty of highlighting some of the most interesting of them below:

Event #1: Saturday, Dec. 2, 2:12 p.m. ET
$50 + $5 Warm-Up, $10,000 GTD (12K Chips)

With 10 minute blinds and a starting stack of 12,000, you'll get in plenty of play in this, the first contest in the schedule. The early afternoon start time means that you should have no concerns about staying up past your bedtime. This is a fine way to get into the spirit of 12 Days of Turbos without feeling like a fish out of water.

Event #12: Monday, Dec. 4, 10:12 p.m. ET
$30 + $3 Heads-Up, $2,000 GTD

Test your mettle against your opponents one at a time in heads-up battle. In some similar events, there's a lot of downtime as you wait for other tables to finish their games, but the blind levels here are a paltry 3 minutes, so this shouldn't be too much of a problem. The low buyin makes this affordable for almost everyone, novices and pros alike.

Event #35: Sunday, Dec. 10, 5:12 p.m. ET
$425 + $25 Main Event, $200,000 GTD

This is the highlight of the entire series although there are 15 further tourneys to wind down the action. You'll begin with a stack of 15,000 chips, so there will be an opportunity for deep-stacked, multi-street play during the first hour or so of the competition before the blinds begin to kick into high gear.

Event #34: Sunday, Dec. 10, 3:12 p.m. ET
$75 + $7 Mini Main Event, $40,000 GTD

If your bankroll doesn't suffice to feel confident in the normal Main Event, then this miniature version might be right for you. Because the two of them commence just a couple of hours apart, you can even play both if you have the necessary funds.

Event #41: Monday, Dec. 11, 10:12 p.m. ET
$150 + $12 PLO, $20,000 GTD (Turbo, 12K Chips)

Four card poker and 6 minute blinds: What could go wrong? Even if you're already used to the variance of Pot Limit Omaha, then the extra boost of adrenaline provided by the short levels should suffice to keep you on your toes. It's time to flip for stacks!

Event #47: Wednesday, Dec. 13, 8:12 p.m. ET
$300 + $25 High Roller, $30,000 GTD

With the second-highest price to enter of any event in the series (only the ME is more expensive), the High Roller match is worthy of your attention. The field will probably be only a couple hundred people or even less, so you won't have to outlast hordes of rivals to win a nice prize. Scoring a payday in this event would be a fine way to end your 12 Days of Turbos.

Besides the series events, there will be two $112,000 Guaranteed tournaments that will replace the normal Sunday $100,000 Guaranteed on Dec. 3 and 10. The buyin remains the same at $150 + $12.

Qualifiers Are Already Running

You can win your seats to 12 Days of Turbos tourneys through satellites that have already started appearing in the poker lobby at Ignition, Bodog, and Bovada. To find them, go to the Scheduled Tournaments tab in the poker software and check the box marked “12 Days of Turbos.” You'll see both the series MTTs as well as the satellites available for them. These feeder events are priced from $2 + $0.20 to $50 + $5, and they award tickets that are good for any series contest of the specified buyin although in the case of Main Event satellites, there's only one target tournament of the correct buyin amount.
