ASUS Zenbo Robot Will Control Your Home For You

Controlling your home using technology isn’t new, although it seems that there is a rise in the offerings of such products these days. Now it looks like Asus wants to throw their hat into the ring by announcing at Computex the Asus Zenbo, which as you can see in the images above and below is a cute robot designed to help users control their home.

According to ASUS’s press release, “ASUS Zenbo arose from Chairman Jonney Shih’s ambition to enable robotic computing for every household. Zenbo is a friendly and capable home robot designed to provide assistance, entertainment, and companionship to families and meant to address the needs of each family member in this ubiquitous computing era.”

The robot seems to be aimed primarily at the elderly who might not be able to walk around as much or who aren’t too quick, so by using voice commands and offering the ability to set reminders like doctor appointments and medication and exercise, it will hopefully make the lives of the elderly more comfortable.

However in addition to being able to cater to the elderly, the Zenbo will also be able to connect to other smart objects at home, like the lights in your home, TV, air conditioners, and more. It can even tell you who’s at the door via a connected camera. It can also move around and its face acts as a touchscreen display. With a price tag of $599, the ASUS Zenbo is certainly an affordable way to start getting connected.
