Personal ECG devices can only Detect just one kind of Heart arrhythmia which is atrial fibrillation. That’s helpful in most cases but it doesn’t provide coverage for the other conditions which could prove to be just as dangerous. The FDA has now handed out its first clearance for a device that can detect three heart arrhythmias.
The FDA has now clearned AliveCor’s KardiaMobile which does just that. KardiaMobile has the first FDA clearance for a personal device that can also detect two other common conditions which include bradycardia and tachycardia.
The former is when the heart rate falls down to 40-50 beats per minute and the latter is when it jumps to 100-140 beats per minute. These conditions may not show symptoms some times but there’s enough evidence to support that they can provide an indication of heart disases.
