Microsoft Paint Won’t Be Removed From Windows 10

Microsoft Paint has long been around in the many Windows iterations that the company has released over the years. The company had been planning to remove this popular app from Windows 10 which isn’t something that its fans appreciated very much. Microsoft has now decided against it and will not be removing the Paint app from Windows 10.

Microsoft had actually been reiterating for a few months now that it’s going to remove the Paint app from Windows 10 in the not too distant future. However, those warnings are nowhere to be found in the latest May 2019 Update (1903).

Brandon LeBlanc, a senior program manager for Windows, confirmed that Microsoft Paint is included in the 1903 release and that it will “remain included in Windows 10 for now.”

There’s no clarity as yet on why Microsoft seems to have reversed course on its earlier decision to remove the Paint app from Windows 10. This change goes to show that the app won’t be removed at in the near future. Paint had previously been marked as “deprecated” by Microsoft which means that there’s no active development for the app and that it may be removed from future releases of the OS. It planned on offering it as a free optional download from the Microsoft Store instead.
